CNBC's Jim Cramer reviewed Wednesday's market action, saying the session was shaped by traders who were relieved that the election was over and were getting ready for President-elect Donald Trump's administration. "The fact that we already know the winner is a huge win for the stock market in itself, which makes it a magnet for new money. The electric vehicle maker's CEO Elon Musk has been one the most vocal Trump supporters among his billionaire peers, and Cramer suggested the president-elect is known to reward his allies. "The ironic bottom line is it'll be tough to exceed the Biden regime when it comes to the stock market. Biden was no friend to stocks, but the market went up anyway," Cramer said.

AppLovin has soared 310% in 2024, beating every U.S. tech company with a market cap of at least $5 billion, according to FactSet data. The technology helps put more targeted ads on the mobile gaming apps the company owns, and works for other studios that license the software. They said the company's "real opportunity" is to catch the influx in brand advertising towards mobile gaming from more conventional channels like social media or legacy broadcasting. Because of its position in digital advertising, AppLovin faces potential competition from some of the most well-capitalized companies on the planet. In 2022, AppLovin gave up on efforts to buy gaming software developer Unity Software for $20 billion, after Unity shareholders rejected the bid.

Small modular reactors (SMRs) promise to reduce capital costs and accelerate construction timelines that typically plague nuclear plants, but the technology has struggled to reach the commercial stage. The difference now is the appetite of tech companies for fossil-free fuel. The market for SMRs could grow by two gigawatts to five gigawatts by 2035 assuming big tech companies make up a majority of the demand, Percoco said. The small, pure-play advanced reactor companies NuScale and Oklo are options, but their stocks are volatile and business outlook uncertain. There's a common belief that lower borrowing costs benefit so-called growth stocks, as they're often capital-intensive. "History also suggests value should outperform growth, at least over the six months following the first rate cut," he said. If the economic situation becomes a "hard-landing," however, he said that growth stocks could outperform. If it normalizes (i.e., becomes more upward sloping), value should outperform growth," he said, referring to a situation where short-term rates are lower than long-term rates. "Lower multiple value stocks have greater upside and less risk than the pricier 'glamor growth' group for the foreseeable future," Ball said.
