The campaign also released an ad focused on health care and prescription drug costs, attempting to draw a sharp contrast with Trump. … We’re gonna have a comprehensive plan to lower costs, and yes, Obamacare hasn’t done it, so we’ll transcend Obamacare,” DeSantis told Fox Carolina. CNN —The Biden administration will restart deporting Venezuelans directly to Venezuela in an attempt to curb the record influx of crossings at the US-Mexico border, according to senior administration officials, marking a major shift in policy. “Repatriations are a key piece to this balanced approach.”Thursday’s announcement is the latest effort by the Biden administration to try to discourage migration to the US-Mexico border, while highlighting other lawful pathways available to certain migrants who want to migrate to the US. It’s also a recognition of the complicated – and unique – challenge for the Biden administration as it faces a historic wave of Venezuelan migrants. New York CNN —The Anti-Defamation League on Wednesday said it plans to resume advertising on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, following a spat with owner Elon Musk. Musk last month threatened to sue the ADL for defamation, claiming that the nonprofit organization’s statements about rising hate speech on the social media platform had hurt X’s advertising revenue. But the group says it will continue to monitor for antisemitic content on X. Two brands in August paused their ad spending on X after their advertisements ran alongside an account promoting Nazism. A search on Wednesday for Greenblatt’s name immediately surfaced multiple hateful and antisemitic tweets about the ADL leader.

CNN —Scientists have pieced together a new draft of the human genome that better captures humanity’s genetic diversity. The scientists involved say it will improve our ability to diagnose disease, discover new drugs and understand the genetic variants that lead to ill health or a particular physical trait. The pangenome, a digital amalgamation of sequences that can be used to compare, construct and study other human genome sequences, is still a draft. The first draft of the human genome was released in 2001 and was only fully completed in 2022. The new pangenome reference is an amalgamation of different genomes from 47 people with ancestry from around the world.

For three years, its stringent approach has kept Covid cases and deaths relatively low in the country. Do you really need a new phone, or do you simply have the urge to get the new, shiny tech? The climate footprint of an average refurbished phone from Swappie in 2021 was 78% less than an average new phone, the company reported. A broken or malfunctioning phone can often be fixed through easy repairs that could cost less than replacing it. Apple this year opened its self-service repair store, providing manuals and parts for consumers seeking do-it-yourself fixes for their iPhones. If your phone is completely broken and cannot be sold or donated, you can still recycle it properly.
