Oracle on Monday announced it intends to join a new federally-backed medical network that will make it easier for clinics, hospitals and insurance companies to share patients' data. Oracle, which acquired the medical records giant Cerner for $28 billion in 2022, is the latest major vendor to support TEFCA, joining its chief rival Epic Systems. Oracle needs to be approved to join TEFCA, but its interest in doing so helps to bolster the nascent network's credibility. "This is just a natural next step," Seema Verma, executive vice president and general manager of Oracle Health and Life Sciences, told CNBC in an interview. The main groups that participate in health-data exchanges through TEFCA are called qualified health information networks, or QHINs.

Income investors have a lot riding on the outcome of next week's presidential election, according to RBC Global Asset Management. Positioning if Harris wins A win by Harris would be constructive for fixed-income, Skiba said. With money markets close to multi-year highs, there is a lot of money that investors can put to work, he noted. There is $6.51 trillion sitting in money market funds as of the week ended Oct. 23, according to the Investment Company Institute . "There actually might be a window of opportunity for fixed-income investors to reposition their portfolios without too much pain incurred in the process," Skiba said.

What can account for this shocking abdication from editorial responsibility on the eve of what may well be the most consequential election in our nation’s history? As Mr. Snyder has astutely observed: “Most of the power of authoritarianism is freely given. In times like these, individuals think ahead about what a more repressive government will want, and then offer themselves without being asked.”How sad! Adam HorvathEugene, Ore.To the Editor:Except for its timing so close to the election, the decision by The Washington Post to stop endorsing presidential candidates is commendable. In the current hyperpartisan and hyperpolarized political environment, the practice of newspapers endorsing political candidates has become counterproductive.

For now, analysts and investors are looking to Amazon's third-quarter earnings report Thursday night for more clarity. Amazon hopes that Kuiper could bring broadband connectivity to some 400 million to 500 million households that currently lack it. No E. coli was detected in samples of beef patties used in McDonald's Quarter Pounders that have been linked to a deadly outbreak, a company spokesperson said Sunday, citing tests by the Colorado Agriculture Department. The department has no further plans to test the beef patties, the company spokesperson said, and the patties have been ruled out as the source of the outbreak. The most likely source of contamination was slivered onions from a single source, the company spokesperson said, citing the Food and Drug Administration. McDonald’s stopped sourcing slivered onions from that source — Taylor Farms Colorado Springs — indefinitely on Sunday, the company spokesperson said, days after it removed the Taylor Farms onions from its supply chain. The McDonald's spokesperson said the company is confident asking beef suppliers to provide a fresh supply of patties for distribution.

It’s still unclear if his ruling coalition with the junior partner Komeito can retain a majority. Ishiba has set a goal of retaining a majority of 233 seats for the ruling coalition between the LDP and its Buddhist-backed Komeito. But analysts say Ishiba’s LDP was expected to remain the top party in Japan’s parliament as voters are skeptical about the opposition’s ability and inexperience. There could be regrouping attempts among opposition parties to decide whether to cooperate among themselves or join the ruling coalition, political watchers say. Ishiba is expected to last at least until the ruling bloc approves key budget plans at the end of December.

It’s a feeling permeating the heavily Jewish neighborhood — and one that has affected how the swing-state community has processed the 2024 election. Unlike with the hurricane rumor response page, FEMA did not appear to respond to the rumors on its page for the wildfires. By 2009, Alex Jones, perhaps one of the most widely known modern conspiracy theorists, was promoting the false FEMA camps conspiracy theory and deriding those who attempted to debunk it. The FEMA camps conspiracy theory continued throughout the height of the pandemic after President Joe Biden signed various executive orders regarding vaccinations and testing. Ron DeSantis said the plan was “not necessary” and referred to the vaccination sites as “FEMA camps.”Although the FEMA camp conspiracy theory has been shot down again and again, Aniano believes this won’t be the last of it. “The conspiracy theory, it’s going to come up again,” Aniano said.
