Across the Atlantic, speaking Thursday, Powell said that strong U.S. economic growth is allowing policymakers to take their time in deciding how far and how fast to lower interest rates. Luzerne County is one of many counties in Pennsylvania — and across the country — that shifted to the right this year. Kevin Kraynak, a Luzerne County native, traveled from his home in California to try to get out the vote. Luzerne County became a hotbed of election denialism in 2020, and Pennsylvania is an open-carry state. Just over 152,000 total ballots were cast in Luzerne County — about the same as in 2020.
