Although they had a decent season last year, no one could have predicted the Eagles would become Super Bowl contenders behind an inexperienced quarterback and a second-year head coach. Despite the disappointing end to the season, there were good signs to go off for the 2017 Super Bowl winners. After Thursday's victory over the Texans and setting a franchise-best start to the season, Hurts was in no mood for getting ahead of himself. "I know it's special for the city of Philadelphia," Hurts, who has at least thrown two touchdowns in the last three games, told reporters. After such a start, many are penciling in the Eagles to come out of the NFC conference and challenge in Super Bowl LVII in Arizona.
CNN —Former Green Bay Packers cornerback Sam Shields has said he regrets playing in the NFL, pointing to the effects concussions and head injuries had on his career and his later life. The spotters “serve as another set of eyes, watching for possible injuries at every NFL game,” according to NFL Football Operations. Concussions and their prevention have become an important issue in recent years due to their connection to brain disease later in life. The neurodegenerative brain disease can be found in individuals who have been exposed to repeated head trauma. The researchers hypothesized about a relationship between head trauma and ALS because of a similar link detected between football and the neurodegenerative disease CTE.
CNN —On the eve of Halloween, Aaron Rodgers and his Green Bay Packers’ nightmare season went to a new level of scary as they lost 27-17 on Sunday night against the Buffalo Bills. The defeat is the Packers’ fourth straight loss, as they slip to 3-5 for the season. Rodgers threw for 203 yards, two touchdowns and an interception, while running back Aaron Jones continued his excellent season as he added 143 yards on the ground. However, the Packers defense once again struggled and could not withstand potential MVP candidate Josh Allen for the whole game. However, after the defeat – in which Green Bay were down 24-7 at halftime – Rodgers was more measured in his response.

It all happened so fast, we never got a chance to ask the most fundamental question: Is the sudden and dramatic shift to warehouse work a good thing? Has the explosion in warehouse jobs, taken as a whole, left us better off than before? As my colleague Katherine Long outlines in her story about musculoskeletal disorders, warehouse work is dangerous. "Warehouse workers," he says, "are the assembly-line workers of contemporary capitalism." That experience has given him hope that warehouse jobs, like their assembly-line predecessors, could wind up being a source of both personal pride and economic advancement.
Orange juice prices are projected to spike due to the aftermath of Hurricane Ian. Florida is a major producer of citrus, but the USDA estimates a 32% decrease in production this upcoming season. Florida growers have been adapting to challenges for decades caused by natural disasters and invasive insects. Central Florida, home to sprawling citrus groves responsible for the vast production of fresh oranges and orange juice across the country, took a hit when Hurricane Ian recently ravaged the state. And although prices are climbing and citrus might be in short supply, the demand for vitamin C is still there.

Sept 27 (Reuters) - Smithfield Foods Inc has agreed to pay $75 million to settle a lawsuit by consumers who accused the meat producer and several competitors of conspiring to inflate prices in the $20 billion-a-year U.S. pork market by limiting supply. The accord follows the judge's Sept. 14 approval of a similar $20 million settlement between consumers and JBS SA (JBSS3.SA), one of Smithfield's largest rivals. The Smithfield, Virginia-based company, a unit of WH Group Ltd (0288.HK), denied liability but settled to avoid the uncertainty, risk and cost of litigation, settlement papers show. In May, the USDA proposed another rule that would require poultry companies to be more transparent with contract chicken growers. The rules aim to improve on previous USDA efforts to protect farmers. Separately, executives who worked for Pilgrim's Pride (PPC.O) and another poultry producer were found not guilty of fixing prices in the poultry sector this year.
