Circuit Court of Appeals said on Thursday the individuals were likely to prevail on claims that Florida's ban violates a federal law governing real estate purchases by foreign nationals. A Florida federal judge in August had declined to block the law, prompting an appeal by the plaintiffs. Lawmakers in several Republican-led states including Texas, Louisiana, and Alabama are considering similar restrictions on Chinese citizens owning property. It also bars most citizens of Cuba, Venezuela, Syria, Iran, Russia and North Korea from owning property near military installations and infrastructure such as power plants and airports.

Nonfarm payrolls expanded by 353,000 for the month, much better than the Dow Jones estimate for 185,000, the Labor Department's Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Friday. Job growth was widespread on the month, led by professional and business services with 74,000. The report also indicated that December's job gains were much better than originally reported. The January payrolls count comes with economists and policymakers closely watching employment figures for direction on the larger economy. The fourth quarter saw GDP increase at a strong 3.3% annualized pace, closing out a year in which the economy defied widespread predictions for a recession.

"We're in the sweet spot of this economy, in terms of growth," which is great news for corporate profits and points to wider stock market rally involving more stocks, Link said. "We're running at 4.2% from the Atlanta Fed GDP tracker, you've got PMIs [purchasing manager indexes] that are bottoming, new orders that are inflecting [higher]," Link said. "It means better earnings. A strong economy means better earnings, and that is what is happening.

The Washington Commanders have an agreement with Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn to hire him as coach, according to two people with knowledge of the decision. Quinn, 53, spent the past three seasons running the defense for the NFC East-rival Cowboys after five-plus seasons coaching the Atlanta Falcons. Quinn coached the Falcons to a Super Bowl appearance in 2016 before being fired after an 0-5 start in 2020. He became Washington’s choice after Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, considered a top candidate, told teams Tuesday he was staying with Detroit and the Seahawks hired Baltimore defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald. CNN —An ongoing cyberattack against Georgia’s Fulton County, which includes parts of Atlanta, has brought some of the government’s systems to a standstill, halting access to court filings, tax processing and other services. The office of the county’s District Attorney Fani Willis lost access to its phones, internet and the court system website, according to a source with direct knowledge of the matter. The communication, court and tax systems have all been brought down, said Fulton County Board of Commissioners Chairman Robb Pitts in a news briefing Monday. A source with first-hand knowledge in Fulton County told CNN the internet and Odyssey court access are down as well. “We at Fulton County take cybersecurity seriously and we place a high priority on the protection of sensitive information,” Pitts said.

NEW YORK (AP) — Airbnb on Tuesday donated a total of $10 million to more than 120 nonprofits in 44 countries on six continents, the short-term rental giant's latest outlays in its unusual distribution of $100 million through its Airbnb Community Fund. “Airbnb has a 21st century company view,” said Janaye Ingram, Airbnb’s director of community partner programs and engagement. By supporting nonprofits that its hosts find valuable, Airbnb can get more funding to groups that help keep their communities strong, Ingram said. The board solicited recommendations for nonprofits from the hundreds of Airbnb Host Club leaders around the world. However, the Airbnb Community Fund is operated separately from that.

The release of the credit card statements follows a motion filed last week by Michael Roman, one of Mr. Trump’s 14 co-defendants in the Georgia case. That motion, which did not include any proof, claimed that Ms. Willis was having a romantic relationship with Mr. Wade that began before she hired him in 2021 to manage the high-profile case. The motion also stated that Mr. Wade, who has been paid more than $650,000 by the district attorney’s office, paid for vacations with Ms. Willis.

ATLANTA (AP) — With Bill Belichick set for a second interview, the Atlanta Falcons have talked with Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn about their vacant head coaching job. The Falcons announced Friday they had completed a virtual interview with Glenn, who has led the Lions' defense for the past three seasons. Glenn became the ninth candidate to interview with the Falcons, but all eyes were on Belichick amid reports that he was the team's top choice and had flown into Atlanta on one of owner Arthur Blank's private jets for a second interview. The Falcons confirmed they were meeting further with Belichick, but said no additional details would be provided until the follow-up interview was completed. For good measure, Belichick was a part of two more championship teams while working on the New York Giants' staff under Bill Parcells.

CNN —Bill Belichick has interviewed for the vacant head coach role with the Atlanta Falcons, the team announced on Monday. Elsewhere, reigning NCAA national champion head coach Jim Harbaugh interviewed for the open head coaching job with the Los Angeles Chargers, the team announced on Monday. David J. Phillip/APHarbaugh has coached in the NFL before, spending four seasons as the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers. In the 2012 season, he lost in Super Bowl XLVII – against his older brother and Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh. In his four NFL seasons as a head coach, Harbaugh led the 49ers to the NFC championship game three times and had an overall record of 49-22-1, including 5-3 in the postseason.
