Ryan Murphy, the creator of “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story,” is defending the new Netflix series after it was harshly criticized by one of the brothers. Erik Menendez slammed the series, released Sept. 19 on Netflix, as "blatant lies" and called the portrayal of his brother Lyle "ruinous" in a statement from prison released by his wife. Brothers Joseph “Lyle” Menendez, now 56, and Erik Menendez, now 53, were convicted in their parents' murders in 1996 after two trials, and sentenced to life in prison without parole. Ryan Murphy on Monday responded to the backlash from Erik Menendez, telling E! In his Sept. 19 statement, Erik Menendez said: “I believed we had moved beyond the lies and ruinous character portrayals of Lyle, creating a caricature of Lyle rooted in horrible and blatant lies rampant in the show.

In the 11th and final song, "Wonder," Perry dedicates a succinct pep talk to Daisy, the name of her child with Orlando Bloom. "Stay free, little Daisy," Perry sings in the second verse. Self-compassionate touch, which can be practiced anywhere, can include stroking the upper arms like a hug. Milko/E+/Getty ImagesThe study showed a single 20-second session of self-compassionate touch significantly reduced stress, increased kindness to the participant and improved mental well-being. However, Hafeez noted that while self-compassionate touch showed similar mental health benefits to long-term therapy, it is not a complete substitute for it — especially among those with diagnosed mental health conditions. Instead, she advised people to think of self-compassionate touch as an added tool for their mental health toolbox. The study results showed the more people make self-compassionate touch a habit, the greater the mental health benefits.

Rare earth elements, such as lanthanum, neodymium and terbium, are critical for helping the world break its long, destructive relationship with planet-heating fossil fuels. These materials — so-called rare earths — are not actually that rare but can be challenging to extract as they are often found in low concentrations. They wanted to understand whether this was “a geological accident, or is there something inherent about those iron-rich volcanoes that makes them rich in rare earth elements?” Anenburg told CNN. Pilot Knob National Wildlife Refuge in Missouri, a former iron-ore mine, could also hold rare earth elements. Some experts have suggested there should be more of a focus on recycling rare earth elements rather than mining.

If you had as much as a spare $1 million to invest right now, what should you buy? Balanced-to-medium risk profile With as much as $1 million to invest with, investors can buy individual securities instead of being restricted to funds, said David Dietze, managing principal and senior portfolio strategist at Peapack Private Wealth Management. "A much smaller amount leaves an investor forced to invest in funds to get adequate diversification. With one million, one could say invest $20K in fifty different stocks and be well diversified," he said. More aggressive risk profile Gambles says that taking on a more aggressive stance would mean an "all in commitment" on the themes he expects will perform, and removing any hedges against those trades.

Georgia is favored over Alabama for the fourth straight time Saturday, but another loss would be three losses in those four games. A loss would turn the conversation from “Kirby Smart had a Nick Saban problem” to “Georgia has an Alabama problem.”Alabama beat Georgia in the SEC Championship Game and earned a spot in the College Football Playoff. It certainly was in last year’s SEC Championship Game and likely will be again this weekend. But an Alabama win would elevate his status early in his tenure, so in that regard, there’s a lot to gain. Win or lose, both Georgia and Alabama will come away with things they need to work on.

Ted Purdom, from San Anselmo, California, graduated in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in English and enrolled in an overseas language program, aiming to learn Spanish. He ended up in Mallorca, the capital of the Balearic islands off the east coast of Spain, for the nine-month program. A friend told him about another program that placed American “language coaches” in Spain, called “Auxiliares de Conversación,” (conversation assistants), run by the Spanish Ministry of Education. So that November he opened The Bridge English Academy in Manacor, converting a former wine store into classrooms to give English language courses to locals. Then there’s the fact that the islanders’ first language isn’t Spanish, but Mallorquin, a dialect of Catalan.
