Student-loan borrowers who were part of a 2022 settlement are still waiting for their relief to be processed. A legal advocacy group said a student-loan company is not carrying out the settlement terms correctly. It said some borrowers within the settlement were told they have to resume payments in October. The group said that forcing borrowers with pending borrower defense claims back into repayment "violates the court-approved Settlement Agreement and applicable regulations." The federal pause on student-loan payment ended on September 1 when interest began accruing again on borrowers' balances.

"There’s no alternative.”Biden has stepped up his attacks on Trump's foreign policy record, casting the former president and his close Republican allies as lackeys for Russian President Vladimir Putin. White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan on Thursday said the U.S. has had and will continue to have “high-level” contact with New Delhi on the matter. But given the gravity of these charges, I do not believe that Senator Menendez can continue to carry out the important duties of his office for our state.”New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy also demanded Menendez’s immediate resignation, saying the allegations were “so serious" that they compromise the senator’s ability to serve.

the purpose of his meeting with MENENDEZ was to consider a potential candidacy for U.S. Attorney in New Jersey. After the meeting, the Candidate informed MENENDEZ that he might have to recuse himself from the DAIBES prosecution as a result of a matter he had handled in private practice involving DAIBES. MENENDEZ also told the Candidate that MENENDEZ would be recommending a different individual for the position. Instead of the Candidate, ROBERT MENENDEZ, the defendant, recommended a different individual for U.S. Attorney. As the day went on after the bombshell indictment, Democrats began bailing on their legally troubled colleague. The indictment said Menendez used his position to help the business executives as well. The indictment includes cinematic, almost comical details about the payoffs Menendez is said to have accepted. Some of the cash was stashed in jackets that were embroidered with the words "Robert Menendez" or "Senator Menendez." At one point, the indictment said, Menendez did a Google search for "kilo of gold price."

Sen. Bob Menendez took bribes of cash, gold, and other luxury items, according to a new indictment. But there's a way more legal way to make money as a senator — just write a best-selling book! AdvertisementAdvertisementBut there's a totally legal way to make extra money — sometimes way more money than the $174,000 salary — as a sitting member of Congress. That would seem to indicate that Menendez's book wasn't exactly a cash cow for him. Perhaps if he had run for president, as many of the top book-sellers in the Senate have, he could've written another book and made more money, the legal way.

Fellow Democrats have yet to come to Sen. Bob Menendez's side in the wake of a stunning indictment. Months before the 2015 indictment, Booker had deemed himself "the Robin to his Batman." Stories about his 2015 indictment feature accounts of a IStandwithBob.com and an accompanying Twitter account that reposted signs of support. At the time of the 2015 indictment, Schumer's predecessor as top Senate Democrat, Sen. Harry Reid, encouraged people to let Menendez have his day in court. Menendez's 2015 indictment ended in a mistrial and he was easily reelected that same year.

Menendez previously faced corruption charges in 2017, but the case was dropped. In exchange, prosecutors allege that Wael "Will" Hana, who helped run the company, provided Menendez's wife, Nadine Menendez, a "low-or-no-show job."
