Meta extended its ban on new political ads on Facebook and Instagram past Election Day in the U.S. The social media giant announced the political ads policy update on Monday, extending its ban on new political ads past Tuesday, the original end date for the restriction period. The company announced in August that any political ads that ran at least once before Oct. 29 would still be allowed to run on Meta's services in the final week before Election Day. Other political ads will not be allowed to run. Those advertisers will be allowed to make scheduling, budgeting and bidding-related changes to their political ads, Meta said.

Market analysts predicted choppy trading and sharp swings going into the US presidential election. AdvertisementMarket analysts are braced for volatility ahead of Tuesday's presidential election as traders shuffled their bets on a Donald Trump or Kamala Harris victory. The drivers of market performance — economic growth, corporate earnings, and innovation — ultimately outshine the impact of political changes. The Trump trade is a stronger dollar, weaker bonds/ higher bond yields and stronger crypto. With one day left of this campaign, the dollar is falling, and the dollar index is at a two-week low.

Its leader, a regular visitor to Russia, met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in March. In his congratulatory note to Sandu Monday, US President Joe Biden declared “Russia failed” in its attempt to undermine Moldova’s democracy. Meanwhile, Ukraine is breathing a sigh of relief at the results of Moldova’s election. If Russia’s gains turn from tactical to strategic, Moldova faces a threat much bigger than election interference.

Investors expect Beijing to announce details on fiscal support Friday. He expects Trump has a greater chance of winning, which he said would increase downward pressure on the Chinese yuan versus the U.S. dollar. While the People's Bank of China has cut interest rates, the Ministry of Finance has yet to release details on widely anticipated fiscal stimulus. China is considering more than 10 trillion yuan in debt issuance over a few years, Reuters reported Tuesday, citing sources. Whether it is 10 trillion yuan over three to five years, or 2 trillion yuan in one year, the average is about 2 trillion yuan in support a year, she pointed out.

CNN —The deep mistrust between conservatives and Republican election officials in Georgia is hampering efforts to slow the tide of election misinformation swirling in this pivotal battleground state. CNBC's Jim Cramer reviewed Monday's market action, saying the session's moves reflect investors who feel Vice President Kamala Harris could win the presidency, even as the race remains deadlocked in the polls on the eve of Election Day. "I'm not sure the market's right about what a Harris presidency would mean for business, but at least now we have a blueprint for what Wall Street thinks it'll mean," he said. Traders, Cramer said, are looking to get ahead of election results, and they're looking for signs that someone knows something that others don't. The poll showed Harris leading Trump 47% to 44%, and Cramer said it has led investors to question whether other red states could turn blue. "I like the idea that you can now get a jump on what traders think," he said.

He has given more than $118 million to a pro-Trump super PAC and hit the campaign trail to stump for Trump in Pennsylvania. CCDH’s research is based on an analysis of publicly available data from X about Musk’s own posts and spending by political campaigns to promote ads on the platform. The nonprofit tallied up how many views Musk received on 87 specific posts that contained false claims about the 2024 election that were debunked by fact-checkers. The 2024 election is the first presidential cycle with the platform under Musk’s control since his takeover of the company formerly known as Twitter two years ago. Based on that information, Ahmed’s group determined that Musk’s election-related posts – boosting Trump and slamming Vice President Kamala Harris – were worth about $24 million.
