Sinwar had consolidated power during the war, becoming Hamas’ sole decision maker in Gaza following the killing of the other two top Hamas officials there. Sinwar became Hamas’ most senior leader after the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh in the Iranian capital Tehran in July.

Butterball made a “specially formulated” brine that keeps the meat moist during the roughly 5-hour long roasting process.

CNN —Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen is set to warn that proposals for sweeping tariffs are “deeply misguided,” would ramp up inflation and hurt American businesses, offering a clear critique of former President Donald Trump’s economic policy. “Calls for walling America off with high tariffs on friends and competitors alike or by treating even our closest allies as transactional partners are deeply misguided,” Yellen will say, according to excerpts released by the Treasury Department. “But the issues we face today, from broken supply chains, to climate change and global pandemic preparedness, to China’s industrial overcapacity, also mean we cannot simply draw from an old playbook.”Trump implemented sweeping tariffs on about $300 billion of Chinese-made products while in office. Elon Musk has given nearly $75 million to America PAC, the super PAC he created to support former President Donald Trump, according to a campaign finance filing from the group late Tuesday. The super PAC is focused on voter turnout efforts in potential swing states such as Pennsylvania, where Musk recently appeared onstage with Trump. Musk gave $14.95 million to the super PAC in July, $30 million in August and $30 million in September, according to the filing. The filing says he was the super PAC’s only donor during that period, although in June the super PAC disclosed several donations from associates of Musk, including five donations for $1 million apiece. Republican megadonor Miriam Adelson gave $95 million in the third quarter to the super PAC she is using to back Trump.

As of August, grocery prices were rising at a pace of 0.9% annually, landing in line with the average increase seen in 2019, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics data. The German company has a low-cost business model and boasts that its prices are up to 50% cheaper than traditional supermarkets. At around 12,000 square feet, its stores are much smaller than a typical US supermarket of 40,000 square feet.

New York CNN —Lufthansa, Germany’s biggest airline, has been fined a record $4 million for discriminating against Jewish passengers, the US Department of Transportation announced Tuesday. The fine stems from a May 2022 incident in which the airline prohibited 128 Jewish passengers from boarding. The crew said that some passengers obstructed flight attendants in economy class from its on-board food and beverage service, “inconvenienced other passengers” and argued with the crew about wearing masks. The DOT said that Tuesday’s penalty is its largest ever issued by the federal agency for civil rights violations. “No one should face discrimination when they travel, and today’s action sends a clear message to the airline industry that we are prepared to investigate and take action whenever passengers’ civil rights are violated,” said US Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg in the release.

For decades, an icy moon of Jupiter has been considered one of the most promising places to search for extraterrestrial life in the solar system. As early as midday Monday, NASA plans to launch a new robotic mission to Jupiter. Dubbed Europa Clipper, the probe is the largest spacecraft it has ever built for a planetary science mission.
