CDC issues dengue fever alert in the U.S.
  + stars: | 2024-06-25 | by ( Nicole Acevedo | ) www.cnbc.com   time to read: +2 min
The alert comes as an unexpectedly higher number of dengue fever cases have been reported across the nation, according to the CDC. The CDC reported 3,036 dengue cases last year in the U.S. and its territories. This year, the incidence of dengue fever globally has been the highest on record, especially in Latin American countries, where more than 9.7 million dengue cases have been reported. A person can get sick with dengue fever up to four times in their lifetime — once for each type of virus that can cause the disease, according to the CDC. The latest CDC alert advises health care providers to have increased suspicion of dengue among people with fever, especially if they have recently been in areas with frequent dengue transmission.

AdvertisementThe announcement caps a dizzying fall from the pinnacle of the residential real estate business for both Tal and his brokerage partner and brother Oren Alexander amid sordid allegations. Tal and Oren spent more than a decade at the brokerage firm Douglas Elliman, establishing themselves as big-name sellers of ultra-pricey homes. In 2022, the pair broke off from Elliman and cofounded Official Partners, a firm that focuses exclusively on the uppermost tier of the residential sales market. She also said that the decision to step aside was mutually made by Tal and Official. "Given the salacious nature of this false allegation and impact on Official, Tal and his partners have decided he will take a leave from the company," Deanna Paul, the attorney, said.

With the battlefield full of such threats, especially the drones that threaten anything that moves, the need for electronic warfare systems is tremendous. "Different EW tools are needed to conduct strategic missions, but there is also a huge need for so-called 'close-range' EW," Fedorov said. Netflix has long been a company known for its secrets: no Nielsen ratings, little feedback on why shows are canceled, no box office numbers for the rare movies that are actually released in theaters. Yet for a place defined by its opaque approach to the outside world, the streaming giant has long been aggressively transparent internally. Three more culture memos have followed over the years. Before being released, they are pored over and analyzed for months by top executives. At the same time, any employee can pop into the Google Doc where the memo is being assembled to leave a thought or a comment.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s presidential campaign raised just $2.6 million in May, a paltry sum that speaks to how reliant his bid has become on his running mate, the wealthy Silicon Valley lawyer Nicole Shanahan. The Kennedy campaign raised less in May than it had in any previous month in 2024, according to filings on Wednesday with the Federal Election Commission. That was in large part because Ms. Shanahan, who has poured millions into their independent presidential campaign, barely contributed any additional money in May. The total raised by Mr. Kennedy was essentially the same as what he raised in April, not counting Ms. Shanahan: He brought in $10.7 million that month, but $8 million came from her. Earlier, when he announced her as his running mate in March, she almost immediately threw $2 million behind the campaign.

Marian is among a group of mixed-race children whose mothers say they were conceived after rape by British soldiers training in Kenya. Mixed-race children continue to be born in the remote villages where the British Army trains its soldiers in Kenya. One of the more contentious accusations against British soldiers involves the case of Agnes Wanjiru. Allegations of rape and other crimes, including murder, by British soldiers deployed there date back to the 1950s. The UK investigators did not conduct DNA tests on any of the 69 mixed-race children alleged to have been born from rape by British soldiers.

On TikTok, floor time involves sitting or lying on the floor to soothe yourself. We asked experts what they think about floor time and how it can help if you're anxious or overwhelmed. Lying on the floor can help you block out external stimuli, allowing your body time to reset, Wood said.
