Ukraine will get an upgraded model of the long-range missiles it just received, an official said. Ukraine likely used more limited ATACMS that it got from the US in a recent attack on Russian airfields. AdvertisementAdvertisementA Ukrainian official said he believes the country will soon receive ATACMS long-range missiles from the US that can travel almost twice as far as the model that just arrived in Ukraine. The US confirmed this week that it had sent ATACMS to Ukraine that had a range of about 100 miles. The US has not announced additional shipments of ATACMS to Ukraine, though it also did not announce the previous shipment in advance.

El Al Israel Airlines planes are seen on the tarmac at Ben Gurion International airport in Lod, near Tel Aviv, Israel March 10, 2020. Insurers for Israeli flag carrier El Al Airlines (ELAL.TA), Israir (ISRG.TA) and Arkia have previously said they can issue such notices due to the war between Israel and the Palestinian group Hamas. Israeli airlines have now received the notices, two sources told Reuters, without naming the airlines. Israeli's parliamentary finance committee last week approved a plan to provide a state guarantee of $6 billion to cover insurance against war risks to Israeli airlines. Airlines normally take out two types of policy - an "all risks" policy which covers both regular damage to the hull and passenger liability, and a "war" policy to cover war or terror-related losses to the aircraft.

Signage for the London Stock Exchange Group is seen outside of offices in Canary Wharf in London, Britain, August 3, 2023. “LSEG delivered another quarter of strong, broad-based growth," LSEG Chief Executive David Schwimmer said in a statement, adding that he was confident that total income growth for the full year will be towards the upper end of a guidance range of 6% to 8%. Data and analytics, which now make up the bulk of LSEG income, was up 7.2% year on year at 1.29 billion pounds ($1.57 billion) on improving sales, rising retention of existing customers and a higher annual price increase, LSEG said. Organic ASV growth remains broadly around the level seen in the first and second quarters, LSEG said, adding that all 2023 guidance is reiterated, including EBITDA margin and capital expenditure. JPMorgan Cazenove analysts said third-quarter gross profit was in line with company-compiled consensus, but "most importantly" organic ASV growth recovered after dipping to 6.9% in the second quarter.

Russia said the Kerch Bridge was fully repaired after a Ukrainian attack in July. But the bridge is "now almost certainly a significant security burden" for Russia, the UK MOD said. "Trucks and fuel supplies continue to be moved by ferry," the UK MOD said. The attacks were seen as a symbolic blow to Russia, with the bridge representing Russian control over Crimea. But it is now "almost certainly a significant security burden requiring multi-domain protection, including the use of air defence systems and crews who would otherwise be deployed elsewhere," it added.

Video calls are broadly considered proxies for face-to-face meetings and therefore are currently subject to little or no formal record-keeping obligations. At least two major global banks are now recording Zoom calls, said sources with knowledge of the matter, who declined to be named because the information is not public. One bank is recording Zoom calls undertaken by certain staff, including traders, while the other is recording all Zoom calls so content can be reviewed later if needed. FINRA declined to comment on how many firms were subject to the rule or whether the rule also extended to video calls. Video calls pose "unique risks" and technology needed to efficiently screen video calls is not widely used, said Matt Smith, CEO of communications surveillance firm SteelEye.

CNN —Madonna took the stage in London on Saturday in the long-awaited debut of her surprisingly poignant new ‘Celebration’ world tour, which had been delayed after she suffered a serious health scare during the summer. The “Like a Virgin” performer also addressed her health troubles, saying it had been “a crazy year for me.”“I didn’t think I was going to make it, neither did my doctors. Madonna battled a bacterial infection in June that caused her to cancel the first leg of the “Celebration” tour in North America. Indeed, it should be noted for Madonna’s die-hards that the tour is not at all reserved only for her chart hits. Madonna often faced away from the audience, performing to a camera that then projected a flawless-looking Madge back to the crowd.

After many companies were wrongfooted by the speed and breadth of prohibitions on Russia, banks are drawing up contingency plans in case geopolitical tensions between the West and China escalate, seven finance industry sources said. The U.S. Treasury Department, which runs the Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation, Britain's Foreign Office and Barclays did not respond to requests for comment. Three senior London-based bankers, who declined to be named because they were not authorised to speak publicly, said their boards had discussed the possibility of stronger Western sanctions on China in future. Scenarios from major cyber-attacks through to a military intervention in Taiwan could potentially trigger further prohibitions on China, one lawyer who advises banks said. One of the bankers said sanctions on Russia had "removed naivety" among businesses and prompted the industry to think more deeply about China risks.

After the data, the S&P 500 spent the morning zig-zagging between red and green. U.S. benchmark 10-year yields rose after the inflation data and rose further to hit a session high after the auction. The rise in yields particularly pressured rate-sensitive sectors such as utilities (.SPLRCU) and real estate (.SPLRCR), often viewed as bond proxies. Homebuilding stocks fell after the data and came under more pressure after the afternoon increase in bond yields. Traders now expect a stronger chance the Fed will end up delivering another interest-rate hike this year, and keep rates higher for longer next year.
