The price increase was approved Saturday at a National Council meeting, where 900 delegates were present to discuss the Girl Scouts’ future. They voted to hike dues to $45 for the 2026 membership year and again to $65 in 2027. Dues will remain at $25 for 2025, which has been the same price for the program for eight years. Membership dues are the Girl Scout’s largest source of revenue, generating $38 million in 2023 from its nearly 2 million total members. “It’s an enormous increase,” said Sally Bertram, a 30-year troop leader with the Girl Scouts of Western Ohio.

CNN —Thousands of Floridians hunkered down at home and in evacuation shelters last week as Hurricane Milton slammed into Florida’s west coast. She ended up going into labor that night as Milton made a devastating landfall and moved inland, Furnas said. Furnas family/AdventHealthAfter 12 hours of labor, Furnas gave birth to her daughter Charlotte – one of 67 babies delivered at Florida’s AdventHealth hospitals during Milton. Nearly half of the babies were born across 14 AdventHealth hospitals in the Tampa area, according to the hospital system. Bringing home baby to storm damageDays before her due date, Hurricane Milton forced Hally Bojadzija and her husband Irfan to evacuate from St. Petersburg, Florida.

New York CNN —Cooking a Thanksgiving turkey presents a host of unique challenges, including making sure it’s not dry, and making sure it’s delicious. But thawing out a multi-pound frozen bird is the first big one. Butterball has a solution with a new frozen turkey that the company says eliminates the hours-long thawing process. This week, the country’s largest turkey producer unveiled a new “Cook from Frozen” turkey that only has two steps to make it, which are unwrapping it and popping it in the oven. Butterball made a “specially formulated” brine that keeps the meat moist during the roughly 5-hour long roasting process.
