A customer walks by a Pride Month merchandise display at a Target store on May 31, 2023 in San Francisco, California. Target will limit which stores sell LGBTQ-themed products following last year's firestorm over its decision to sell products designed for transgender people. It added that in addition to selling LGBTQ-themed home and food and beverage items, apparel from its Pride collection this year will be tailored to adults. No Pride apparel for children will be sold. The latest decision, first reported by Bloomberg News, represents a change from offering the products in all Target stores, as the company has done in previous years.

There may be a case to bet on technology stocks, even if interest rates remain higher for longer. While conventional wisdom suggests high rates should punish the group, investors still favor the earnings growth offered by megacap tech stocks, according to The ETF Store President Nate Geraci. "Investors are viewing megacap tech as a quality play," he told CNBC's "ETF Edge" on Monday. Even if a U.S. economic slowdown takes hold, Geraci thinks quality tech names can remain in a leadership role. But some economists have argued that flawed historical economic data puts this claim in question. The further back you go — the NBER data goes to about 1850 — the more common recessions were. He said the NBER's pre-1914 recession data, in particular, is "very poor," and that only economic data collected after World War II is of good quality. Small- and mid-cap companies have long lagged the broader market due to a slew of challenges, including higher interest rate expectations. However, the strategy head acknowledged that not all small- and mid-cap stocks are the same. A key policy designed to create affordable housing for low-income people has long been scrutinized for being generally ineffective. So a policy designed to create more affordable housing can actually result in fewer homes and higher housing costs. Related storiesPhillips wanted to determine whether there's an optimal inclusionary zoning policy and if not, what the policy's tradeoffs look like. Bill Stone, chief investment officer at Glenview Trust, has attended 20 Berkshire Hathaway annual shareholder meetings in Omaha, Nebraska. A longtime Warren Buffett disciple and a Berkshire shareholder since 1999, Stone's own investing style has been inspired by the "Oracle of Omaha" — a value-oriented approach with an emphasis on the so-called margin of safety. "You look at stocks, not as pieces of paper, but as businesses," he said in CNBC's latest Pro Talks . Can I possibly forecast that they'll continue to earn these profits?" My weekend column used this season of campus protest as an opportunity to discuss the evolution of Columbia’s core curriculum, whose readings on contemporary politics, I argued, usefully distill the core of contemporary progressivism while leaving a great deal else by the wayside. I included some examples of ideas and writers that the present Columbia syllabus leaves out, but I wanted to give a little more attention to the question of what a supplement to the progressive approach would look like. If you were trying to bring a great-books program all the way up to the present and you wanted to widen the ideological aperture beyond Columbia’s progressive focus, what would you have your students read? One answer is that the very idea of being up-to-date is a mistake because readings oriented explicitly to the present are everywhere in education and the point of a core curriculum is to stand a little bit apart, to connect you to the riches of the past — riches that have been sifted in a way that just isn’t possible with the publications and arguments of the past few generations. I have some sympathy with this idea: If I were designing a core humanities program for high school students (not that I’ve ever thought about this or anything), my strong impulse would be to just hit “stop” at World War II or 1965 and decline to make any judgment on what will be remembered as the great books of the recent past and present.

Don't write run-on sentences under your job titles. Don't write general, task-oriented phrases that don't give a sense of what you achieved in the role. Don't include a line stating what role you're applying for. "All it needs to focus on is your impact," he says about your resume. It lends itself to quantifying your impact by saying, "I helped double impressions on the website," for example.

Cardboard stands with the AfD logo lie on the chairs in the Wiesenhalle before the start of the AfD Brandenburg state party conference. Traditionally, young voters are seen as more left-leaning, but the voting data suggests some divergences, with experts pointing to social media and what they describe as online echo chambers. A study published earlier this month showed that over half of those aged 14-29 in Germany use social media to stay updated about news and politics.
