CNN —John Aniston, a veteran actor known for his work on the daytime drama “Days of Our Lives,” has died, his daughter, actress Jennifer Aniston, shared on Monday. You always had perfect timing,” Jennifer Aniston wrote in a statement shared on Instagram. Before he became a soap star, Aniston served in the US Navy and appeared in an off-Broadway musical, Soap Opera Digest reported. “I tell everybody who wants to be an actor, don’t be an actor, be something else. News alongside his daughter, Aniston offered both fatherly praise and sobering guidance: “Jennifer is a natural talent,” he said to his daughter’s embarrassment, but reminded her that talent doesn’t always result in a long career.

Mehmet Oz, Trump’s handpicked Senate candidate in Pennsylvania, fell to Democratic Lt. Gov. In Georgia, Trump foe Brian Kemp, the Republican governor, easily cruised to another term, besting Democrat Stacey Abrams. Meanwhile, Trump’s pick for Senate in the state, former football star Herschel Walker, is headed into a December runoff with Sen. Raphael Warnock. The storyline of Trump versus DeSantis battling for control of the GOP is already shaping up to be one that will dominate the national political conversation over the next two years. The other storyline should be how the outcome of the elections was a much better one for Democrats than the Beltway intelligentsia had been predicting.
Jeremy Strong is the award-winning actor who plays Kendall Roy in HBO's 'Succession.' In an interview with The Times, Strong opened up about why he never gave up on acting. Now at age 43, Strong has had a successful turn as Kendall Roy on "Succession," earning him an Emmy — but his success was hard-won. In a recent interview with The Times, Strong said that in 2010, he was struggling to find work in LA. "I'd be lying if I said it wasn't difficult to see people I was close to getting work," Strong told The Times.
The whole thing highlights how while the suspect, David DePape, may have invaded the Pelosi home, the GOP also bears its share of responsibility for it. It would be a mistake not to see how DePape was radicalized (at least in part) by a right-wing media that does the bidding of a Republican Party. Although some Republicans, such as Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, did the right thing and publicly condemned the attack on Paul Pelosi, others on the right jumped at the chance to get some digs in. Following the attack on Paul Pelosi, Rep. Debbie Dingell (D-Mich.), said it best: “Somebody is going to die.” That’s very well what could have happened last week at the Pelosi residence. I came here to have a little chat with his wife,” DePape said he told Paul Pelosi, according to the memo.

CNN —The unexpected passing of television star and social media darling Leslie Jordan has spurred a flood of heartfelt tributes. The actor died on Monday, his talent agent Sarabeth Schedeen told CNN in a statement. Jordan’s most recognizable credit was his time on “Will & Grace” as Beverley Leslie, a role he reprised throughout the show’s run, including its recent reboot. Co-star Eric McCormack posted two tributes to Jordan on his Instagram, with one showing showing the pair performing for the cameras on the show. “Crushed to learn about the loss of @thelesliejordan, the funniest and flirtiest southern gent I’ve ever known,” McCormack wrote in the caption.
Another plot line is said to include disparaging conversations between Major – played by Jonny Lee Miller – and his wife, Norma, concerning the Queen and the royal family. Former Prime Minister John Major is seen in London in February 2022. Nor has he ever been approached by them to fact check any script material in this or any other series,” a spokesman for Major said in the statement. “Discussions between the Monarch and Prime Minister are entirely private and – for Sir John – will always remain so. But not one of the scenes you depict are accurate – in any way whatsoever.

The bold way that the GOP — the pro-life party — continues to support Georgia Senate candidate Herschel Walker, who allegedly urged an ex-girlfriend to have an abortion and paid for the procedure, is eyebrow-raising to say the least. However, it’s not the first time Walker has been involved in a deal in which he has failed to live up to expectations. If you are an ardent Vikings fan, the Walker trade was a raw deal that still stings to this day. In this lopsided trade, it’s former President Donald Trump and the Republican Party attempting to present Walker as a Senate candidate with deeply held anti-abortion convictions to conservative Georgia voters. According to a Survey USA poll of likely voters, conducted Sept. 30 through Oct. 4, Warnock leads Walker 50% to 38%.
Federation Studios, the outfit behind the international Emmy award-nominated documentary “Nadia,” is set to co-produce “Patrick Vieira — Off the Bench,” a social-impact documentary shedding light on racism in the world of soccer and beyond. Federation Studios, whose documentary unit is headed by veteran journalist Myriam Weil, is partnering up with SlugNews, an award-winning production outfit, to develop and produce “Patrick Vieira — Off the Bench.” The documentary feature will soon start shooting in the U.K. and France. A well-respected figure within the sports landscape who went from player to coach for one of the world’s most prestigious soccer teams, Vieira says he has witnessed and experienced structural racism. “In 2022, Black players continue to be insulted on the field and on social media,” says Vieira. Weil says Vieira has been wanting to make a social impact documentary for a long time to spark a discussion and hopefully change the status quo a world scale.
Michaela Coel knows how important it is to have queer representation on-screen. In an Oct. 6 interview with Vogue, Coel talked about her character Aneka, a captain and combat instructor in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” and revealed she decided to play the fearless warrior after learning her character was queer. “That sold me on the role, the fact that my character’s queer,” Coel said. The highest mortgage rates in more than 20 years coincided with one of the deadliest hurricanes on record in the United States, both contributing to a steep drop in mortgage demand. Mortgage applications to purchase a home dropped 13% for the week and were a steep 37% lower year over year. With higher interest rates making an already pricey housing market even more expensive, homebuyers turned more to adjustable-rate mortgages, which offer a lower interest rate. Mortgage rates came down slightly this week, according to another survey from Mortgage News Daily, but all bets are off at the end of the week when the important monthly employment report is released. Depending on how investors view the results — and how the Federal Reserve might react to those results — mortgage rates could move decisively in either direction.
Although Brazil is a multi party country, Sunday’s election has been distilled down to a choice between which of the two viable candidates running is capable of doing the least amount of harm. Sadly, no matter which way the Brazilian electorate decides to go, it will almost certainly mark a wrong turn. The end result is a large number of reluctant voters who cast a vote for a candidate begrudgingly. In many respects, these pressing problems are the result of the policies and actions of Brazilian leadership over the past two decades — inextricably linked to both the Lula and Bolsonaro administrations. While Lula’s track record on the environment is mixed at best, Bolsonaro’s anti-environmental agenda has never been a secret.
Formerly the host of the Emmy award-winning "The Dr. Oz Show" and an attending physician at the New York Presbyterian-Columbia Medical Center, Oz — known by his TV moniker Dr. Oz — is the Republican candidate for Pennsylvania's US Senate race. John Fetterman, a Democrat, says Oz is trying to buy himself a Senate seat from out-of-state. Fetterman, who holds a 13-point lead over Trump-backed Oz in the state's open-seat Senate race, has criticized Oz as a carpetbagger from neighboring New Jersey, even using an aerial banner that read, "Hey Dr. Oz, Welcome Home to NJ!" He also enlisted the help of reality TV star Nicole Elizabeth LaValle — better known as "Snooki" — to mock Oz for his ties to New Jersey. According to the New York Observer, Oz, a longtime New Jersey resident, has been active in his local Republican Party in New Jersey for several years.

Witnessing Arab women flourish on the small screen, showcasing their talents and breaking through the presumption that they are oppressed is widely significant. That is not to say Arab women live in a utopia in the Middle East. The implication is that these Arab women have no depth to their character other than their attire. Just as common are images of Arab women living as concubines in harems waiting to please men. But the achievements of the past week should help to break down the stereotypes surrounding Arab women and inspire them to dream big.
