Because you've seen hundreds of PowerPoint presentations since your sixth-grade science-fair days, you instinctively know this one's going to take the full hour. Nearly four decades after the launch of PowerPoint, the slide deck remains one of the most dominant forces shaping how we think — and don't think — about our work. Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, Sundar Pichai, and military top brass have been bad-mouthing and even banning slide presentations from meetings, instead favoring memos or even old-fashioned, visual-aid-free, raw-dogged discussion. Microsoft estimated that 30 million PowerPoint presentations were being made every day. AdvertisementI hate the way people use slide presentations instead of thinking.

Aris Yeager shot to fame by parodying a spoiled, rich European caricature on social media. Yeager recently told Business Insider about his online persona. You may have seen the 24-year-old Belgian-American, better known as "The European Kid," at some point on your social media feeds. But the conflation between Yeager's and Louis' life goes further than being mistaken for billionaires' sons. "I could be a Formula 1 driver," Louis told Sainz in a video earlier this year.

Epic is a health-care software giant whose technology is used in thousands of U.S. hospitals and clinics. And one theme stood out during the health-care company's event on Tuesday: How new artificial intelligence features can help doctors and patients. Faulkner said the company has more than 100 AI features in the works, though many of the tools are still in the early stages of development. Doctors will be able to use AI to automatically queue up orders for prescriptions and labs, the company said. He spoke to an AI agent through the MyChart app about his recovery after a supposed wrist surgery and answered questions about his pain.

A new phase of parenting has started — parenting adults, three of whom still live at home. I'm not sure I'm sadI was sad when the kids hit other milestones. I had children at home, children at kindergarten, children at primary school, children at secondary school, children at play dates, and children at activities. Even so, having four children grow into adults in your house is a lot. I want to enjoy them nowSo, am I sad I don't have teenagers in the house anymore?

I'm grateful for the people we've met in the community who have made connections with my kids. Though no one can replace their grandparents, I'm grateful for these intergenerational friendships. Though my kids won't know their own grandparents, I've intentionally looked for other ways to bring intergenerational relationships into their lives. My kids' grandparents can never be replaced, but I'm grateful for my communityA local grandmother recently invited me for tea. They take an interest in my older children, asking them about their passions, hobbies, and interests.

As the creative force behind the look of the wildly popular 1970s London fashion store Big Biba, Thomas knows a thing or two about engineering excitement. “An act of bravery”Interior designer Thomas had already designed Hulanicki and Fitz-Simon’s home and the third Biba store in 1968 before being approached about the landmark seven-level store. “Fitz offered me two floors (of Big Biba) but I wanted it all,” he recalled of his initial involvement. Tim WhiteWhile Wintour’s shopgirl life was short-lived, Big Biba’s staff were a vital component of the experience remembered Thomas. In 1969, the independent company sold a majority of its shares to another British fashion retailer Dorothy Perkins which, in August 1973 (a month before Big Biba opened), was then bought by a property development company called British Land.

But now, the short-form video pioneer is changing course and pushing users to make and consume longer videos. “I think TikTok is now [thinking], ‘We need to show [advertisers] that we can keep people staying on one video longer,’” Stein said. Consumers are also more likely to sit through a pre-roll ad for a video longer than one-minute than a video that’s nearly the same length as the ad itself. The company also says it recommends longer videos the same way it does shorter ones, based on user preferences rather than video length. She said that even when making relatively simple “storytime” videos, where she’s just sitting and talking to the camera, making videos longer than 1-minute means investing significant time and effort.

I start looking at the layout of the show and thinking about if I’m going to ad-lib an intro for a guest. On Sundays I’ll usually roast two drumsticks, and he either eats it whole or I’ll put it in spaghetti or lasagna or sometimes it’s chicken mac and cheese. BED PREP, DINNER PREP One of us sits at the dinner table and eats with my son. I do a lot of the prep work on Saturday night. SPLIT SCREENS After dinner, I’m a binge-watcher of TV.

After Microsoft announced integration of ChatGPT with Bing, all eyes were on Google to do something. It's currently only open to "trusted testers," and my teammate writes that "trusted" is the key word, since Google doesn't trust you. Yet, in this crucial moment, Google seems to only be able to react with fear, Hasan writes.
Meta, Salesforce, Twitter, Snap and other tech companies have also announced layoffs in recent months. Others are using their platforms to raise awareness of labor rights in wake of recent layoffs. So yeah, I’m unemployed, but I have a hell of a lot of confidence in myself.”Educating viewers about their rights has also gained popularity after recent layoffs. TikTok user alberta.nyc, a Google software engineer and self-described “tech cynic," has made videos about the importance of unions in the tech industry. Chris Olsen has amassed 10 million subscribers thanks to storytime vlogs and collabs with famous friends. In an effort to "end the stigma," Olsen shared in a recent video that he's had chlamydia three times. Olsen began the story by saying he'd just gotten tested for chlamydia, which he's already had three times. The nurse thought her son might fit the bill, so she shared his name with Olsen. At 5 Points Diner & Bar in Nashville, Tenn., drag performer Veronika Electronika can often be seen strutting between brunch tables. The measure, known as Senate Bill 3, was introduced by Tennessee Republican Senate Majority Leader Jack Johnson in November. Tennessee has proposed 31 anti-LGBTQ bills this year, the most of any state, according to Freedom for All Americans. “We tip our servers, we tip our bartenders, we tip our hair stylists, and we tip our drag queens,” she said. As for Veronika, she said she’s determined to rally enough opposition to scuttle Tennessee’s drag bill before it becomes state law.
Protesters swarm NYC library hosting Drag Story Hour for kids

Protesters trying to shut down a reading event geared toward neurodiverse children at a branch of the New York City Public Library were met by a wall of counterprotesters. NYC Councilmember Erik Bottcher / via TwitterSaturday's protest was just the latest in a string of standoffs across the country from a fringe movement targeting drag events over unsubstantiated allegations of grooming. New York City Council member Erik Bottcher shared images and videos online of the protesters, some of whom he tried speaking with before entering the children’s reading event. “I want to show you the face of hate, right here in Chelsea,” Bottcher said in a video shared on Twitter, before showing the counterprotesters clad in rainbows. A representative for the New York Public Library said the event went on as planned and added that the library would continue to offer programs supporting diverse voices.
More than 50 demonstrators, including members of the Proud Boys, gathered near the church Saturday morning and shouted, chanted and held up signs. Saturday morning, speaking on the event's stage, framed by holiday decor that included a Christmas tree in the rainbow colors of the pride flag, Red Oak Community School manager Cheryl Ryan made an emotional video address explaining why "Holi-Drag Storytime" was canceled. Ryan blamed local leaders, including law enforcement, for letting members of the Proud Boys and other right-wing demonstrators gather while the audience for "Holi-Drag Storytime" ultimately could not. The National Center for Transgender Equality said Saturday's cancelation is another example of right-wing incursions, including violence, on LGBTQ+ rights. The first “Holi-Drag Storytime” was took place successfully in Dec. 8, 2021, on the grounds of Columbus' Vanderelli Room art gallery.
EUGENE, Ore. — Protesters, some of them armed, threw rocks and smoke grenades at each other outside a drag queen story time event at an Oregon pub, but the weekend show that was to have featured a child performer went on as planned. The nonprofit Drag Queen Story Hour was started in San Francisco in 2015 by activist and author Michelle Tea. As part of Drag Queen Story Hour’s programming, drag queens read to children and their parents at libraries, bookstores, fairs, parks and other public spaces to celebrate reading “through the glamorous art of drag.”Other drag events have also been in the headlines lately. Most recently, a half-hour “Drag Kids” program planned for the Boise Pride Festival generated national backlash and anonymous threats. Festival organizers envisioned a short performance where kids could put on sparkly dresses and lip-sync to songs like Kelly Clarkson’s “People Like Us” on stage.

Tana Mongeau is "Cancelled" on her new podcast produced by David Weintraub Entertainment and the Paragon Collective.
