Investors shouldn't let a smaller-than-expected guidance beat overshadow tailwinds from Nvidia's looming Blackwell graphics processing unit rollout come January. Citi's Atif Malik lifted the firm's price target to $175 and opened a positive catalyst ahead of the consumer electronics show in January. Wells Fargo's Aaron Rakers moved to a $185 price target, reflecting 27% upside from Wednesday's close. Meanwhile, JPMorgan's Harlan Sur lifted his price target to $170 a share, saying that margins should improve toward the mid-70s range in the second half of 2025 as Nvidia streamlines costs. What's next for the stock Despite strong Blackwell expectations, some analysts warn of potential near-term volatility.

The average credit-card interest rate is now just over 21%, up from about 15% a decade ago. Additionally, as credit-card companies continue to charge high interest rates, more cardholders in debt become delinquent — and that could push the US economy closer to recession. I was stuck in the revolving door of work and parenting, and nothing about my personal life was Instagram-worthy. Somewhere between 2006 and now, parenting became a crash course in achievement, with social media grading us at every turn. Children and parents alike have unknowingly entered a relentless pressure cooker under the constant spotlight of social media. These can result in a cycle of increased mental health issues for both the parent and the child. There are two social media tricks that can be life-changing for adults: Mute accounts (you’re the only one who will know!)

I’ve never really understood why people enjoy eating chicken. Like the frenzy of people crowding Chick-fil-A or Popeyes when a limited-edition chicken sandwich goes on sale, as if it were the latest iPhone release. Or the fact that there’s something called the “chicken sandwich wars,” which could return in 2024 — thanks in part to the recent limited release of two new McDonald’s crispy chicken sandwiches. Compared to the aroma of freshly baked bread or the sizzle of bacon — scents that beckon me closer — the fried chicken smell is like an unwelcome intrusion. Why exactly do you enjoy eating chicken?

The past few years have been tough for edtech companies. In recent months, multiple edtech startups have raised fresh funding rounds while specifically touting AI as a core part of their business model. These deals could signal that AI is ushering in a new era for edtech companies, and VCs who invest in the space are excited about the renaissance. And Ednition, also one of Donnelly's portfolio companies, provides an infrastructure-as-a-service platform for other edtech companies to improve the data that goes into their AI models. That's why it's so important to invest in ed-tech AI startups that help people rethink how they interact with technology and learn new skills necessary to successfully enter the workforce, he said.

Dal Is the Ultimate Comfort Food
  + stars: | 2024-03-28 | by ( Priya Krishna | ) www.nytimes.com   time to read: 1 min
One of my favorite Hindi terms is “ghar ka khaana.” It literally means “home food,” but it also encompasses the singular joy and unfussiness of meals made in your own kitchen — the dishes that remind you of childhood, the ones you won’t often find in restaurants. My quintessential ghar ka khaana? To make dal feels like an alchemical feat, watching the pebbly lentils turn creamy, starchy and golden with turmeric. I love the sizzle of the hot, spiced ghee when it is poured into the lentils, the way that dal envelops a bowl of rice like a hug. The first time I published my mother’s recipes for dal in my cookbook, “Indian-ish,” it felt as if I was letting people in on a secret — a solution to their weeknight dinner woes, courtesy of my ancestors.

AMC Theaters, Looking for Movies, Turns to Blumhouse

For five days starting on March 29, people who buy tickets to certain movies at certain AMC Theaters will see video messages starring … Jason Blum? It’s a long way from Nicole Kidman, whose breathy “We come to this place for magic” branding spot has become legend. But Mr. Blum, a horror film producer, has been working to build his entertainment company, Blumhouse, into more of a consumer-facing brand. AMC and Blumhouse, which has made more than 200 horror movies and shows, are teaming up for what they are calling the Halfway to Halloween Film Festival. Previously released Blumhouse horror movies, including “Split,” “Ouija: Origin of Evil,” “The Purge,” “The Invisible Man” and “Insidious,” which will have its 13th anniversary on April 1, will be on offer in 100 AMC theaters in 40 cities.

Cocoa prices rose to a red-hot sizzle this Valentine's Day — but they could soon be due for a reckoning, according to Citi. Cocoa futures finished 25.5% higher in February, cinching their biggest monthly gain since November 2001, when they rose 31.66%. Cocoa supply might increase on one side of the equation, but Doshi cautioned that demand might also be weighed down by consumption risks. Even against this backdrop, Doshi highlighted that it might take some time before cocoa prices completely retreat off their record highs. "Our base case remains that cocoa terminal prices will enter a bear market by end-2024, off a historically rich nominal price area."

How Google lost its way

Just two months after Google launched Gemini, its flashy new AI model, the company revealed that it had already built a better version. AdvertisementThen, days later, Google scrambled to explain why its image generation tool spit out racially inaccurate depictions of historical figures. Users have long bemoaned — and researchers recently found — a decline in the quality of Google Search results. The fact that Google is not far and away the self-driving-car leader, it's, like, a total joke," the former Google director said, adding that the problem of Google's lost supremacy is "maybe impossible to solve, frankly." This as-told-to essay is based on a conversation with Andrew Benin, the cofounder of olive oil startup Graza. Putting out a high-quality olive oil is difficult for a young brand, but it's even harder now as prices hit record highs. Before I launched Graza in early 2022, we purchased nearly 50,000 liters of olive oil from Italy for about $3.10 a kilo. If you know a bit about olive oil production, you'll know that extra virgin olive oil is extremely inefficient to produce — that's one of the reasons it's more expensive. Law enforcement agencies have seized tens of thousands of gallons of olive oil and arrested suspects worldwide for fraud in the past several months.

Many workers have expressed fears that the technology will show up at the office like a young gun coming for their job. Williams expects some of the biggest gains from AI won't center on what companies and workers are doing now. Instead, he sees major wins coming from what workers aren't doing but that AI could. Filling in when help is scarceOne reason jobs sometimes aren't getting done is because there aren't always enough workers. If AI could be deployed to help with this work, the time the task takes might get cut in half, Holding said.
