All Blacks rout Namibia 71-3 in Toulouse deluge

The All Blacks' discipline continues to be an issue even in games like this one where they are in complete control. They conceded 11 penalties to Namibia's seven, as well as seeing de Groot given a red card for a high shot. Namibia left slightly worse off than the 71-9 margin when these sides met in the last World Cup. The crowd were on their feet to applaud Malan as he raised a fist from his stretcher on the way off, defiant amid disaster. Poor Italy secure bonus-point win over Namibia

The Italians led 17-8 at the break and later scored a superb 60-metre try through livewire wing Ange Capuozzo. Namibia’s wait for a first World Cup win extends to a record 23 games, though they also scored an excellent try via wing Gerswin Mouton. Italy were the first to score a try after 11 minutes when Lorenzo Cannone went over after a lineout maul with Namibia already down to 14 men as hooker Torsten van Jaarsveld was sin-binned. However, Italy were much stronger after the break and the difference in quality off the bench all too evident. Manuel Zuliani took advantage of a tiring Namibia defence to break two tackles and race down the line for his 78th minute try.

Donaldson, a surprise selection brought into the side primarily for his place-kicking, added 15 points from the tee with three penalties and three conversions. "There is a real feeling this team could do something," Eddie Jones said after the first victory of his second reign as Australia coach. "We've got a young team, it's a great learning experience for them. Georgia never looked like adding another top tier victim to their tally after wins over Italy and Wales in the last 13 months but battled to the bitter end and scored tries through Luka Ivanishvili and Beka Gigashvili. CNN —US coach Vlatko Andonovski defended his team from criticism ahead of the last-16 Women’s World Cup knockout clash against Sweden, telling reporters on Saturday that he didn’t think “it’s the right time” to question their mindset. I mean they’re not going to happen.”Former players and pundits have criticized the US following its underwhelming performances so far in this year’s Women’s World Cup. “This national team has held the standard for so long and it’s up to us to keep it going. Sweden was the last team to inflict a World Cup defeat inside regulation time on the USA back in 2011, when Alyssa Thompson, the youngest member of the 2023 World Cup squad, was only six years old. Alcaraz sets up Queen's final against De Minaur
  + stars: | 2023-06-24 | by ( ) www.reuters.com   time to read: +2 min
In his first ATP Tour final on grass, Alcaraz will face Australian Alex de Minaur who earlier beat Danish second seed Holger Rune 6-3 7-6(2). Should Alcaraz win Sunday's final he would reclaim the world number one ranking from Novak Djokovic and would be seeded one at Wimbledon which begins on July 3. He forged an early break ahead in the second set and never looked in danger from that point on. Very happy to make my first final on grass and even more so at Queen's. He is the first Australian to reach the final at the Queen's pre-Wimbledon event since Lleyton Hewitt in 2006.

It's worth hopping on Harley-Davidson due to the company's focus on the core business and better-off consumer, according to Morgan Stanley. His price target of $50 implies the stock could gain 33.2% from where it closed Monday. HOG YTD mountain Harley-Davidson Jonas also said he's increased his optimism given Chairman and CEO Jochen Zeitz's focus on generating cash flow from the core motorcycle business, while simultaneously managing risks related to spun-off electric motorcycle maker LiveWire . Jonas said Zeitz's business has a "back to basics" approach that's proving useful amid lingering supply chain challenges and a changing consumer spending outlook. He said the 2022 spinoff of LiveWire allows Harley-Davidson to focus on perfecting its bread-and-butter business and catering to the core base rather than trying to expand reach.
Super Rugby finally rolls into the post-COVID era
  + stars: | 2023-02-22 | by ( Nick Mulvenney | ) www.reuters.com   time to read: +4 min
SYDNEY, Feb 22 (Reuters) - Finally freed of the COVID travel restrictions that sounded the death knell to the intercontinental edition and fragmented and disrupted the rump competition, Super Rugby returns in its full new normality on Friday. The second season of Super Rugby Pacific will be played with a host of law variations aimed at making the game more attractive to fans but one aspect of the competition is highly unlikely to change -- New Zealand supremacy. The Canterbury Crusaders dominated Super Rugby in the years pre-pandemic and have proved just as hard to beat with or without fans in the stadiums, through lockdowns, biosecurity protocols and in competition hubs. Despite optimistic noises coming from across the Tasman Sea in Australia, the biggest challenge to the Crusaders is likely to come from the North Island of New Zealand. The forgiving and sometimes derided playoff system that offers knockout rugby to eight of the 12 teams will give hope to all but the most hapless outfits.
A Harley-Davidson’s LiveWire on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange in September, when the electric-motorcycle brand became a public company. Harley-Davidson Inc.’s LiveWire subsidiary is off to a rough start as a public company, as its electric motorcycles struggle to attract riders and investors. Shares of LiveWire Group Inc. have fallen about 15% since the merger in late September with a special-purpose acquisition company, or SPAC. The deal yielded about half the cash proceeds Harley anticipated, with most of the SPAC investors withdrawing their money rather than holding LiveWire shares after the deal went through, according to a regulatory filing.

Kamada and Mitoma strike as Japan breeze past United States
  + stars: | 2022-09-23 | by ( ) www.reuters.com   time to read: +2 min
Jesus Ferreira's early header had sailed over the bar from Sergino Dest's cross in an encouraging start for the United States, but that was to prove a rare sight of goal for Gregg Berhalter's side. Arsenal goalkeeper Turner ensured the United States were not on the end of a heavier defeat with a string of fine saves in the second half. The 28-year-old kept out a 55th minute effort from Junya Ito before denying Kamada a second of the game 10 minutes later. But there was nothing Turner could do to prevent Mitoma from adding Japan's second in the 88th minute. The Japanese will be appearing at their seventh consecutive World Cup in November and have been drawn to face Germany, Spain and Costa Rica in the group phase while the United States meet England, Iran and Wales.
