Generative artificial intelligence has taken Silicon Valley by storm since the launch of OpenAI's ChatGPT chatbot in November 2022. There was a lot of optimism over the potential of GenAI gadgets at the CES trade show in January, said Paul Gagnon, vice president for analyst firm Circana. Additionally, consumers may find current GenAI devices too expensive, and they may be confused about what the devices can actually do, he said. The reality is that while GenAI has captivated Silicon Valley, it's still "inning zero" in regard to widespread adoption, Bajarin said. Despite Silicon Valley not having a breakout year for GenAI hardware, here are a few GenAI devices early adopters can buy.

The domestic box office is poised for its biggest Thanksgiving haul since the pandemic thanks to a Polynesian princess, a pair of witches and a revenge-fueled gladiator. Disney's "Moana 2" is set to hit theaters Wednesday and generate between $120 million and $150 million in box office receipts in the U.S. and Canada through Sunday. Box office analysts believe the five-day Thanksgiving weekend, which runs from Wednesday to Sunday, should easily clear $200 million in ticket sales and could even become the second- or third-highest Thanksgiving period in cinematic history. After ruling the Thanksgiving box office for years with titles from Pixar and Disney Animation, it's failed to live up to expectations with its recent string of releases. In 2016, "Moana" opened over the Thanksgiving holiday, generating $82.1 million.

Macy’s on Monday said an employee responsible for managing accounting for small package deliveries concealed up to $154 million in expenses over the course of nearly three years. Macy's said it discovered the issue while preparing its financial report for the three-month period ending Nov. 2. The company said the employee, who was responsible for the accounting of small package delivery expenses, "intentionally made erroneous accounting accrual entries" to hide about $132 million to $154 million from the fourth quarter of 2021 through the most recently completed quarter. The independent investigation hasn't identified any other Macy's employee, the company said. Bitcoin hit a new record high last week, with prices climbing above $99,000 for the first time. CNBC asked analysts for their take on why bitcoin has so far failed to breach the widely-watched $100,000 mark. "There's a ton of leverage in the system right now," Novogratz, a longtime crypto investor, told CNBC's "Squawk Box" on Friday. Novogratz added that he's advocating investors buy "straight bitcoin" rather than bitcoin-exposed plays, such as MicroStrategy which owns a huge, multi-billion-dollar pile of bitcoin in its corporate treasury reserves.
