New York AP —Jonathan Majors ’ ex-girlfriend has dropped her assault and defamation lawsuit against the once-rising Hollywood star after reaching a settlement. Lawyers for Majors and Grace Jabbari agreed to dismiss the case with prejudice, according to a joint filing in Manhattan federal court Thursday. The British dancer filed the suit months after Majors was convicted of misdemeanor assault and harassment in connection with an altercation in Manhattan. Majors and Jabbari had met in 2021 on the set of Marvel’s “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” in which Majors played Kang and Jabbari served as a movement coach. The bodybuilder drama had garnered early Oscar buzz for Majors, but was dropped by its distributors following his conviction last December.

The ex-girlfriend of former Marvel actor Jonathan Majors has dropped a lawsuit that accused him of assault and defamation, according to court records filed in New York Thursday. The emerging star, who appeared in boxing drama "Creed III," was convicted in December 2023 on two counts of misdemeanor assault against Grace Jabbari, who said Majors attacker her in the back of an SUV. Majors played supervillain Kang the Conqueror in the Marvel movie franchise and was due to reprise the role in “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty,” slated for 2026. Attorneys for both Jabbari and Majors did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Majors was given the Perseverance Award at the annual Impact Awards in Hollywood in June.

And now, an extremely rare first edition of his most famous work, the political manual “The Prince,” is going up for auction, with an expected sale price of up to £300,000 ($375,000). The copy of the early 16th-century book is one of only 11 first editions to be recorded, according to auction house Sotheby’s. The book was printed in 1532 and bound with Machiavelli's "Florentine Histories" in an Italian binding, according to Sotheby's. Heaton said the auction house is “delighted” and “excited” to offer the “incredibly rare book” at Sotheby’s in London in its next Books & Manuscripts auction, which runs from November 28 to December 12. The political treatise, dedicated to Florentine ruler Lorenzo di Piero de’ Medici, was circulated as a manuscript before Machiavelli’s death in 1527.

Former billionaire investor Sung Kook “Bill” Hwang was sentenced to 18 years in prison on Wednesday over the collapse of Archegos Capital Management, which cost Wall Street banks more than $10 billion. Hwang was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Alvin Hellerstein in Manhattan, where a jury convicted Hwang in July on 10 criminal charges including wire fraud, securities fraud and market manipulation. Before sentencing Hwang, Hellerstein asked the defendant’s lawyer, Dani James, how she thought Hwang compared to Sam Bankman-Fried, who was sentenced in March to 25 years in prison for stealing $8 billion from users of the now-bankrupt FTX exchange. While Archegos eventually managed $36 billion, Hwang’s borrowing helped him amass $160 billion of exposure to stocks. Of course, these basic rules of political decorum are ones Donald Trump has rarely followed.
