DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — An Israeli-Moldovan rabbi living in the United Arab Emirates has gone missing, with Israeli authorities raising the suspicion Saturday he may have been kidnapped as tensions remain high with Iran. Israeli media citing unnamed security sources reported that Zvi Kogan, who has been missing since noon Thursday, may have been kidnapped. Western officials believe Iran runs intelligence operations in the UAE and keeps tabs on the hundreds of thousands of Iranians living across the country. Iran also kidnapped Iranian-German Jamshid Sharmahd in 2020 from Dubai, taking him back to Tehran where he was executed in October. However, the Mideast wars have sparked deep anger among Emiratis, Arabs and others living in the UAE.

An Idaho teenager has been arrested over a month after a dead baby was found in the Safe Haven Baby Box at the Grove Creek Medical Center in Blackfoot, police said. The newborn baby girl was removed from the box at the medical center “within a minute” after a medical team responded to an alarm notifying them that an infant had been placed there on Oct. 13. But it was discovered that the newborn had been dead long before she was placed in the baby box, according to a news release from Safe Haven Baby Boxes published last month. "The Safe Haven Baby Box is intended to safely and anonymously allow custodial parents to surrender a newborn under 30 days old without legal repercussions, provided the child is unharmed," the Blackfoot Police Department said in a news release Friday. "Unfortunately, the placement of a harmed or deceased infant is not protected under this system or Idaho law."

Israel’s new defense minister has said security forces would no longer apply administrative detention orders to Jewish settlers in the occupied West Bank, and thus only Palestinian suspects can be held indefinitely without trial. Israel Katz, a long-time ally of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, was appointed defense minister earlier in November and announced the decision on Friday. In 2019, Trump abandoned the long-held U.S. position that West Bank settlements are illegal before it was restored by President Joe Biden. Settler immunity from administrative detention coincides with heightened rhetoric from Israeli ministers calling for the West Bank to be annexed. The U.N. said four Palestinian children have been killed every week in the West Bank on average since the current conflict began, a three-fold increase from the first nine months of 2023.

Abortion rights groups are bracing for an especially tough fight in conservative Missouri, where they see one of the most restrictive bans in the country in place. But abortion rights groups in the heavily Republican state said they’re prepared to respond to any. Abortion rights groups also aren’t expecting much of a battle in Colorado, Maryland, Nevada or New York — the remaining four states where voters passed measures enshrining abortion rights in state constitutions earlier this month. “Ballot measures don’t end on Election Day. For most art-world buyers, a work unsubtly called “Comedian” lacked a certain a-peel. But on Wednesday, Cattelan got the last laugh as “Comedian” sold for $6.24 million, including $1 million in fees. The buyer was soon revealed to be Justin Sun, a 34-year old cryptocurrency platform founder from China and based in Switzerland. And while some who have capitalized on those assets will inevitably purchase art, artworks themselves have their own rates of return that depend more on evolutions in taste that don’t correlate with wider macroeconomic trends. Sun, the “Comedian” buyer, used his own cryptocurrency, TRX, to make the purchase, Sotheby’s said.

Experts point to turnout and dissatisfaction with the economy as the driving forces behind the results. “The main story is the relatively low levels of turnout for Harris in key Democratic places compared to Biden in 2020,” Kollman said. Riverside, another California county where Asian Americans have strong representation, also flipped for the GOP in a photo-finish race decided by a few thousand votes. But while Harris’ vote count grew 21%, it was no match for Trump’s nearly 50% improvement. There was no difference in muscle soreness whether the men soaked in cold or hot water. “Don’t believe what you’re hearing on podcasts.”For a hot water soak, Putrino suggests:10 to 20 minutes at 98 to 104 degrees Fahrenheit. Whether you’re a fan of cold or hot, experiment and keep track of which temperature soak helps you recover the quickest, Putrino said.

An infant has died and 10 adults have been sickened amid a four-state listeria outbreak connected to ready-to-eat meat products, officials said. The outbreak has been tied to ready-to-eat meat produced by Yu Shang Food, Inc. of Spartanburg, South Carolina, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said in an update Friday. The infant who died was a twin whose sibling also died but whose death could not be linked to listeria. Of the eight people sickened, seven shopped at markets where Yu Shang Food products are sold, and two said they recalled eating Yu Shang Food chicken, the CDC update said. “This suggests that people in this outbreak got sick from the same food,” the CDC said in its update.

Dentists began giving kids fluoride treatments. About 70% of community water systems in Florida receive fluoridated water, according to the surgeon general’s release. Parents said their kids’ teeth were full of cavities despite drinking and brushing regularly with what they thought for years was fluoridated water. Adding fluoride to water systems “mitigates the impact of disparities in access to dental care,” said Jetelina, the epidemiologist. “This is one of the beauties of public health — a mainly invisible population intervention, helping the most vulnerable.”Still, the scrutiny continues.
