ANNOUNCER:From NBC News in Washington, the longest-running show in television history, this is Meet the Press with Kristen Welker. In a Meet the Press interview during his 2016 run, he suggested that his insurgent bid could generate cross-party appeal. AMY WALTER:Yeah, and the other thing that, you know, Democrats have been dining off the anti-Trump coalition now since 2017. RAMESH PONNURU:I think Democrats wildly overestimated the power of the abortion issue to drive candidate choice as opposed to referendum. There would be pressure on the president, President Biden, to not run for reelection.

He's since changed his tune, and now aims for at least six hours of sleep per night, he told CNBC last year. "Groundbreaking TV talk show journalist Phil Donahue died Sunday night at home surrounded by his wife of 44 years Marlo Thomas, his sister, his children, grandchildren and his beloved golden retriever Charlie," said a statement from his family. At his peak, his nationally syndicated "The Phil Donahue Show" — later renamed to "Donahue" — was a ratings hit and precursor to similar shows by hosts Montel Williams and Jerry Springer. "His show debuted nationally, and the whole country came to know his personal brand of issue-driven straight talk," Winfrey said in 2002. "If there had been no Phil Donahue show, there would be no 'Oprah Winfrey' show. But the new law has also provoked questions about how it will be applied, whether it can effectively protect women from sexual exploitation and whether it risks criminalizing break-ups. Audrey Dmello, director of Majlis Law, a women’s rights NGO in India, supports the new law. She argues “promise to marry” rape cases are under-reported and needed to be tackled through legislation. “Having such a law gives women validity as to what happened to them,” she told CNN.
