On Tuesday, Trump’s transition team signed an agreement with the White House after months of postponing the traditional transition process – a delay that Biden officials warned could undermine an orderly transfer of power and pose national security risks. Here’s a look at what’s happening at the northern U.S. border. Illegal crossings have risen sharply but remain far below those at the southern border. Border agents made more than 23,000 arrests at the northern border from October 2023 through September, the 2024 fiscal year, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection. That number has risen in recent years, from just over 2,000 in the 2022 fiscal year and around 10,000 in the 2023 fiscal year. Katie Flagg moved to Vermont when she was 18 to attend Middlebury College and fell in love at first sight — with the state. The oldest of all of the private US senior military colleges, Norwich University predates Virginia Military Institute and The Citadel and is credited as the birthplace of the military's Reserve Officers' Training Corps, or ROTC. The Senate on Wednesday resoundingly rejected a series of three resolutions to block weapons transfers to Israel, but the move to curtail American support for the war in Gaza drew substantial support from Democrats, reflecting growing consternation in the party over the conflict. Seventeen Senate Democrats and two independents backed at least one of the measures, a display of deepening divisions over Israel’s conduct after 13 months of war and the deaths of tens of thousands of Palestinians. AUBURN, Ala. — A flight carrying the No. 11 Auburn basketball team was grounded shortly after takeoff on Friday after two players got into a fight onboard, according to multiple reports. “We had two players that got into a physical altercation, clothes were ripped,” the pilot was heard saying to air traffic controllers in audio obtained by WBRC-TV. The pilot told air traffic controllers that police were called, according to the audio. The fight was broken up before it became anything serious and a replacement flight departed Friday night, ESPN reported.

CNN —A plane carrying the Auburn men’s basketball team had to be diverted following an altercation on the flight, according to CNN affiliate WBRC. According to WBRC, the pilot requested an emergency landing in Montgomery, Alabama. Per ESPN, the apparent scuffle was over before it became a serious situation, but the flight personnel decided to divert back to Auburn. Auburn was still expecting to travel to Houston on Friday night, according to ESPN. The Tigers are 1-0 on the season following a blowout win over Vermont earlier this week.
