An NBC News poll at that time showed that at least 20% of Black men would support Trump — an alarming number for Democrats. Harris introduced an Opportunity Agenda for Black Men, outlining what her administration would do to support that voting constituency that seemed movable. But that effort was one of the few that addressed Black men directly, he added. Black men younger than 30 and older than 65 were the most likely to support Harris at 78% and 87%, respectively. We must avoid casting Black men as scapegoats and saviors.”Jones added that the numbers should be considered with nuance.

PITTSBURGH — Inside Acrisure Stadium, home of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Minnesota Gov. “The Steelers are largely a cultural identity for the whole region,” said state Rep. The logo of Russian technology giant Yandex is on display at the company's headquarters in Moscow, Russia December 9, 2022. Moscow already demands a 50% discount on all foreign deals after consultants selected by the Russian government have valued the business. But three people familiar with the exit process for foreign companies said that some deals are facing demands for additional discounts before the government gives a green light. Another person, who works on M&A transactions and with foreign companies, said deals exceeding $100 million were at particular risk of being denied. In its biannual financial stability review, the central bank said foreign companies under pressure to leave Russia were doing so on "unfavourable" terms.

LONDON, June 21 (Reuters) - Telecoms company Veon (VON.AS) said on Wednesday it would invest $600 million in the infrastructure of its Ukrainian subsidiary Kyivstar, the war-ravaged country's largest mobile network. The Amsterdam-listed company said the funds would help upgrade the mobile operator's infrastructure, including improving connectivity and 4G services throughout Ukraine. The country has seen much of its mobile infrastructure hit by Russian rocket attacks. Kyivstar's technical teams have performed nearly 150,000 repairs since Russia invaded last year, Veon said, adding it ensured that 93% of the network is operational. Kyivstar has lost around 7% of its active customer base - or roughly 1.7 million subscribers - since the war started last February.

Satellites can help secure telecom connections when normal networks are disrupted by wars or natural disasters. Veon and OneWeb declined to comment. Veon and Starlink are negotiating fees for the coming year, after governments and other entities paid for the service through spring 2023. SpaceX activated Starlink over Ukraine following the Russian invasion last year, providing internet access to millions of civilians and military personnel. The merged companies are racing to build a constellation of low-orbit satellites to challenge Starlink and Amazon's (AMZN.O) Project Kuiper.

Feb 1 (Reuters) - A Russian government commission has approved the sale of telecoms company Vimpelcom to senior managers by its Dutch owner Veon (VON.AS), the Russian economic news outlet RBC reported, citing two unnamed sources. The disposal is notable in that Veon, unlike many Western investors, is receiving money for its asset - one that accounts for about half of Veon's revenue. RBC reported that the deal had been amended to ensure all bondholders were treated equally. Veon declined to comment and no comment was immediately available from Vimpelcom or the Russian digital ministry. KARACHI, Pakistan, Jan 23 (Reuters) - Thousands of mobile phone towers have gone offline across Pakistan due to a nationwide power cut on Monday, an industry source told Reuters, raising the spectre of a telecommunications blackout in parts of the country of 220 million people. The disruption has begun hitting the country's approximately 40,000 telecommunication towers. Separately, the country's telecommunication regulator, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), warned of outages. "Due to country wide power outage, users may face service disruptions," PTA said in a statement. A spokesperson for PTA did not respond to a question on how many of Pakistan's telecommunication towers were offline.
Nokia CEO Pekka Lundmark echoed that sentiment in a interview: "Our exit will be complete. "This will allow us to organise modern production of telecoms equipment in Russia," he said, without naming the operators or producers. Government programs to promote Russian equipment have helped telecoms operators become less reliant on Nokia and Ericsson over the past several years and Russian producers have increased their market share this year to 25.2% from 11.6% in 2021. Russian telecom operators stockpiled foreign-made parts in February and March ahead of sanctions, two of the industry sources said, but inventory will drop after Nokia and Ericsson pull the plug Dec. 31. Consolidation between Russian operators at the behest of the government might also allow them to share equipment and resources to make the networks last longer, industry sources added.

Veon also operates Beeline in Kazakhstan and Kyivstar in Ukraine. Veon said the management buyout of Vimpelcom implied an expected enterprise value of approximately 370 billion roubles. Though Veon is selling at a discount, the transaction represents a relatively rare example of money changing hands between parties as companies race to exit Russia. The shares have traded near record lows since tumbling after Russia began what it calls its "special military operation" in Ukraine. "The management buyout of our Russian operations will benefit all involved," Veon CEO Kaan Terzioglu said in a statement to Reuters.
Nov 3 (Reuters) - Amsterdam-listed telecoms operator Veon (VON.AS) on Thursday reported a 3.6% year-on-year rise in third-quarter revenue, as its 4G penetration and digital operator strategy continued to deliver growth despite macroeconomic and geopolitical challenges. "Growth in subscribers, higher 4G penetration, and an expanded portfolio of digital services are driving solid revenue performance across our countries", CEO Kaan Terzioglu said in a statement. It also further strengthened its liquidity position, with $3.3 billion in cash at the end of the quarter, the group said. Russia, Veon's largest market, reported a revenue decrease of 6.1% year-on-year in local currency in the quarter, impacted by a 58.5% decline in equipment revenue due to lower device sales. Telecom operator VEON seeking sale of Russian operations

Nov 2 (Reuters) - Veon Ltd (VON.AS), the Dutch-based operator of telecommunications networks, said on Wednesday it was seeking the sale of its Russian operations, which make up more than half of its revenues and earnings. The company said it was conducting a "competitive sales process" for the business, which operates under the Beeline brand. Since then, scores of foreign firms have sought to reduce exposure to Russia and paused or terminated operations there. Veon's position is difficult as it also has significant operations in Ukraine, where it has struggled to keep its Kyivstar arm operating throughout the conflict. Russian media reported last month Veon was considering a sale of Beeline but Veon declined comment at the time.
