It is unclear how exactly the deportations will play out and how families will be impacted. In states like Arizona, Colorado and Pennsylvania, mixed-status families, asylum-seekers and advocates say they are planning for scenarios where children could be separated from their parents. American Airlines is rolling out new technology across the country to crack down on travelers trying to get on the airplane before their boarding group is called. Customers who try to scan a boarding pass before their group is called will hear a two-note sound and be turned away, the airline said. American Airlines has nine boarding groups, ranging from first-class customers and top-tier frequent flyers to travelers who purchased basic economy fares, or the least-expensive tickets. Airlines reward their high-paying elite frequent flyers with perks such as earlier boarding, and have been trying to keep it exclusive. The new technology as of Wednesday is in more than 100 nonhub airports around the U.S. following tests over the past month at Albuquerque International Sunport, Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and Tucson International Airport, American Airlines said.

WASHINGTON — Among the many permutations for how the elections could end, one prospect has sparked chatter in both parties: Donald Trump could win the presidency while Democrats seize control of the House. A Republican county supervisor in Arizona pleaded guilty Monday after she tried to delay certification of the 2022 midterm election results, state Attorney General Kris Mayes announced. Peggy Judd, a Cochise County supervisor, pleaded guilty to failing to perform duties as an election officer, a misdemeanor. She acknowledged that she failed to canvass the election as required by law, the attorney general's office said. Judd was originally charged by a state grand jury in November 2023 along with another Cochise County supervisor, Tom Crosby, who also tried to delay the certification of the 2022 election results.
