Gladiator sales have fallen steadily from the 2020 peak as a result and are down another 21% so far this year. The company’s relentless focus on short-term profits for 2023 had devastating consequences for Stellantis, Farris wrote. Reuters —Stellantis said on Tuesday it will deploy a new vehicle system that will support assembly of gasoline, hybrid and electric models, but in a sign of how turbulent the electric-vehicle transition is, the automaker also delayed production of Ram electric pickup trucks. Tavares said the automaker is delaying production of its electric Ram pickups until the first half of 2025 from this year, citing the need to ensure quality. The global industry faces even greater uncertainty around EV demand if U.S. President-elect Donald Trump carries out plans to unravel various incentives around EV production and sales. Battery electric vehicles on Frame will have up to 500 miles (805 km) of range, and it will offer a 14,000-pound (6,350-kg) towing capacity, the company said. It will also support hydrogen and extended-range electric vehicles.

DETROIT — Stellantis is delaying the launch of its Ram electric pickup trucks from this year until the first half of 2025, as the trans-Atlantic automaker continues testing the vehicles. CEO Carlos Tavares on Tuesday declined to disclose details about what caused the delays or specific timing on the electric trucks, which include an all-electric “REV” model and an extended-range “Ramcharger” that’s equipped with an electric generator and a gas engine. Stellantis’ upcoming electric pickups are the first that will be built on the company’s new “STLA Frame platform” for its larger trucks and Jeep SUVs. It is expected to be a “multi-energy platform” that’s capable of internal combustion engines and hybrids, as well as electric models using batteries, fuel cells and range-extended electric propulsion systems. Doing so would deliver on Trump’s campaign comments about removing such incentives and EV initiatives.

The Arizona Proving Grounds covers 4,000 acres between Phoenix and Las Vegas in Yucca, Arizona. As of July 2019, the operations employed 69 people, including workers represented by a local chapter of the UAW, according to the automaker. Stellantis plans to use a proving grounds in Arizona owned by Toyota Motor beginning next year, according to two people familiar with the decision. Stellantis’ other major U.S. proving grounds facility is a 4,000-acre campus located west of Detroit in Chelsea, Michigan.

The world’s fourth-largest automaker by sales said it now planned to name his successor by the fourth quarter of 2025. CNN —Chrysler parent Stellantis filed a federal lawsuit against the United Auto Workers, saying the union has violated its contract by threatening to strike over the company’s delays in planned investment. The automaker filed the suit on Thursday asking the US District Court in the Central District of California to declare the decision by UAW Local 230 in Los Angeles to take a strike authorization vote violates terms of the contract reached last fall. Stellantis seeks to hold the UAW and the local union chapter liable for any potential revenue loss and other damages resulting from lost production due to any strike. On Thursday, a supermajority of UAW members at Stellantis’ Los Angeles Parts distribution center voted to request strike authorization if the company and union can’t settle a grievance over planned company investments. “The UAW acted in bad faith by disregarding this language, filing sham grievances, and calling a strike authorization vote to pressure Stellantis to proceed with planned investments,” the company said in the lawsuit.

A supermajority of UAW members at Stellantis' Los Angeles Parts Distribution Center voted to request strike authorization from the International Executive Board if the company and union can't reconcile, the union said Friday morning. The lawsuit argues that if the union does strike, the court "should award Stellantis monetary damages" that result from a breach of contract. UAW President Shawn Fain has routinely said the union will strike if needed, however Stellantis has argued that would be unlawful under the contract. The lawsuit came the same day Fain and union members held their latest rally against Stellantis in suburban Detroit. Stellantis, in the lawsuit, called the grievances a sham designed to "justify mid-contract strikes against Stellantis that otherwise would violate the [contract's] no strike clause."

While Stellantis is committed to its 2024 dividend, Tavares said it was too early to confirm next year's plan.
