ServiceTitan, a company that sells software to contractors such as plumbers and roofers, on Monday filed to go public on the Nasdaq under the ticker symbol "TTAN." The filing suggests that investors could be getting more interested in next-generation software companies. Based in Glendale, California, ServiceTitan offers cloud software for advertising, scheduling jobs, dispatching, producing invoices and taking payments. ServiceTitan's revenue growth rate will stand out for people investing in cloud stocks, who have seen rates sag with few new public companies in the sector. The average growth rate for Bessemer's Nasdaq Emerging Cloud Index, the basis for the WisdomTree Cloud Computing Fund, is 16.6%.

Wall Street's top performers are hard workers who tend to work long, intense hours. Business Insider asked its 2024 class of Wall Street stars about how they stay mentally sharp. Here's what we learned about the hacks, habits, and routines that help top talent on Wall Street stay on their game. The routine helps him stay present with his home life as well as work, he added. But there's another clear aim for DirecTV: getting more leverage over content providers. AdvertisementLike all pay-TV providers, DirecTV has been crushed by cord-cutting for the last decade or more. AT&T sells 70% stake in DirecTV to TPG for $7.6 billion
  + stars: | 2024-09-30 | by ( ) www.cnbc.com   time to read: 1 min
AT&T said on Monday it would sell its 70% stake in satellite TV service DirecTV to private equity firm TPG for $7.6 billion, exiting a business marked by declining distributions for the telecom operator. AT&T in 2021 signed a joint-venture agreement with TPG, which contributed about $1.8 billion in cash in exchange for a 30% stake in DirecTV that was valued at about $16 billion at the time. The telecom company had agreed not to sell its stake in DirecTV for a three-year period, which expired on July 31. The stake sale would allow AT&T to focus on its core wireless and fiber connectivity operations and help improve its balance sheet. AT&T would receive an initial payment of $2 billion in 2025, and additional payments through 2029, the company said in a filing on Monday.

EchoStar is selling its Dish TV provider and digital business Sling to rival DirecTV in a deal announced Monday that brings together two of the largest pay-TV providers. Combined, DirecTV and Dish will serve close to 20 million customers, according to Reuters. The content distribution industry as a whole has been on a major decline, Akhavan said, and distribution companies such as Dish and DirecTV have fallen behind other platforms with newer technologies and wider reach. Also on Monday, AT&T announced it would sell its entire 70% stake in DirecTV to private equity firm TPG for $7.9 billion. The possibility of a merger between Dish and DirecTV has been rumored for decades.

DirecTV agrees to buy Dish for $1

New York CNN —DirecTV announced Monday it’s buying rival Dish Network, ending multiple decades of on-and-off talks about the satellite services merging. The agreement provides DirecTV and Dish with greater scale, a DirecTV spokesperson told CNN. The newly merged DirecTV-Dish entity will continue to support the Dish brand for the foreseeable future, the DirecTV spokesperson said. DirecTV does not currently have plans to make changes to the existing Dish or Sling TV brands, meaning that current Dish customers should not be concerned about being forced over to DirecTV. The deal also strengthens the duo’s foothold in the industry, allowing them to more easily compete with pay TV rivals and streaming services.

DirecTV said Monday it has agreed to acquire Dish Network from EchoStar. AdvertisementDirecTV announced Monday that it has agreed to acquire rival Dish Network from EchoStar, in a deal that would create one of the largest pay-TV providers in the US. The deal will see DirecTV acquire EchoStar's video distribution business — which includes Dish and Sling TV — for $1 and assume around $9.75 billion of Dish's debt, the companies said. The deal also comes at a challenging time for the pay-TV industry, with DirecTV and Dish being squeezed by streaming services like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. AdvertisementIt said consumers were "cutting the cord" and ditching satellite TV for streaming services, with DirecTV and Dish collectively losing 63% of their satellite customers since 2016.

The combination of Dish and DirecTV has been rumored for years and nearly happened in 2002 until it collapsed under regulatory pressure. The prospect of a future EchoStar bankruptcy and deal approval from creditors make the completion of a deal complicated. EchoStar has a total enterprise value of about $31 billion and a market capitalization of about $7.6 billion. Dish ended its last quarter with 6.1 million satellite subscribers and 2 million customers for Sling TV, Dish's over-the-internet package of linear networks. DirecTV has also felt the pain, losing millions of subscribers since AT&T bought the company in 2015 for $67 billion with debt.

The on-cycle recruiting process is not easy on these young bankers, who are often already working 80+ hour weeks in their new investment-banking jobs. The conventional wisdom on Wall Street has always been that the most hawkish PE firms walk away with the most impressive candidates. Odyssey doesn't participate in on-cycle recruiting because it prefers to fill positions in what is known as "off-cycle," or the months that follow the initial recruiting process. It all leaves me thinking about the PE recruiting cycles of the future. To be overly cautious, I've already penciled in a calendar reminder for 2025: "Monitor for PE recruiting cycle kickoff."
