But when Suzuki started visualizing her dream self and following the habits she imagined she would have, she lost 40 pounds sustainably. Growing up, Suzuki, a YouTuber based in New York, was overweight and wasn't taught healthy eating habits, which made her feel different. As she observed people who had healthy habits, she noticed that they tended to be active simply because they enjoyed it. She didn't restrict herself but didn't eat more than she neededIn Suzuki's childhood home, there was a scarcity mentality in relation to food, she said. She knew there would be times she didn't feel motivated but she just kept focusing on her goal until it became a habit.

Japanese Finance Minister Shunichi Suzuki speaks during the presidency press conference at the G7 meeting of finance ministers and central bank governors, at Toki Messe in Niigata, Japan, Saturday, May 13, 2023. "When there is an excessive movement, it may be necessary to smooth it out," he told CNBC's Dan Murphy, according to a translation. Japanese Finance Minister Shunichi Suzuki on Friday backed currency interventions by his country's policymakers if the yen moved in sharp directions that started to impact households and companies. The finance minister declined to comment when asked whether current levels for the yen were appropriate. In the last few decades, while other global central banks have tightened their policies, Japan had maintained its ultra-loose strategy.

The yen was last at 151.22 against the dollar at 10:19 a.m. London time after paring back some losses. The yen hit a 34-year-low on Wednesday, weakening as much as 151.97 against the U.S. dollar and fueling market questions over potential government intervention to prop the Japanese currency. Japan tells G20 it may need to act in FX market

The remarks came as the yen renewed its declines against the dollar, and underscored Tokyo's resolve to keep markets on edge over the chance of exchange-rate intervention to prop up the Japanese currency. "I told the G20 meeting we need to be mindful of the risk that market volatility could heighten, including in the currency market, as monetary tightening continues globally," Suzuki told a news conference after attending a meeting of Group of 20 (G20) finance ministers and central bank governors. "I also said excess volatility in the currency market was undesirable, and that we may need to take appropriate action depending on developments," Suzuki said. The official said Tokyo stood ready to act in the currency market if market moves become too volatile. Japan last intervened in the currency market to prop up the yen in September and October last year.

Taillon (8-10) certainly helped the cause, though he was far from dominant while yielding four of Colorado's six hits and four walks. The Cubs loaded the bases with one out in the first against Colorado rookie starter Noah Davis (0-3), but managed only a run via Suzuki's RBI single. Rockies left fielder Nolan Jones cut down Ian Happ trying to score a second run on the same play to end the inning. Cooling inflationary pressures and strengthening home values are likely to spell a recovery for home improvement retailers sooner rather than later, according to Bank of America. Although the firm's indicator for the home improvement industry still came in negative for August 2023, the signal ticked up from its July reading. "Strength in home values should lend longer-term stability for home improvement demand," Suzuki wrote. Banknotes of Japanese yen are seen in this illustration picture taken June 15, 2022. Some market players were surprised by the lack of determination to keep the yen from falling beyond 145 yen to the dollar. Traders are watching for any signs of intervention by Japanese officials to shore up the ailing currency. However, Japanese officials have rarely escalated verbal warnings since last month against speculators trying to sell off the yen. The weak yen has driven up import bills for fuel and foods, depriving households of purchasing power and prompting Prime Minister Fumio Kishida to scramble for measures to subsidise gasoline retail prices and to mitigate rises in utility bills.

Suzuki's announcement comes after other Japanese automakers have rolled out similar goals to catch up with European and U.S. rivals in the fast-growing battery EV market. Suzuki said it would introduce its first battery EVs, including small sport-utility vehicles and micro "kei" cars, in Japan in fiscal 2023. Suzuki plans to introduce battery EVs in Europe and India, and its first battery electric motorcycles globally, the following year. Suzuki plans to learn from Toyota how to use EV technology to make small electric cars, Suzuki said during a visit to India this month. "We will put in vehicles for various price ranges, for various people, for various regions," Toshihiro Suzuki said.
It is not unusual for the finance minister to refer to Japan's strained finances. The Ministry of Finance estimates that every 1-percentage-point rise in interest rates would boost debt service by 3.7 trillion yen to 32.5 trillion yen for the 2025/2026 fiscal year. "Overall JGB issuance, including rolling over bonds, remain at an extremely high level worth about 206 trillion yen. We must secure fiscal space under normal circumstances to safeguard trust in Japan and people's livelihood at a time of emergency." LABOUR REFORMPrime Minister Fumio Kishida echoed Suzuki's resolve to revive the economy and tackle fiscal reform.

The investment case for Best Buy looks murky as retailers face a slowing consumer spending environment, according to Bank of America. Best Buy shares have come under significant pressure this year as retailers grapple with high inflation and a pullback in consumer spending. The stock's down more than 17% year to date, with Bank of America's $69 price target suggesting shares could fall another 18% from Tuesday's close. Suzuki's price target suggests that stock trades at 10 times the bank's 2024 earnings per share forecast, which is below the historic averages for both Best Buy and the hardline retail sector. "We believe this discount is warranted given the pressure on consumer discretionary spending in light of inflation," she wrote.
Bagnaia wins maiden MotoGP title as Ducati end 15-year drought

Nov 6 (Reuters) - Ducati's Francesco Bagnaia won his maiden MotoGP world championship at the season-ending Valencia Grand Prix on Sunday after Fabio Quartararo failed to overhaul him in the standings. Defending champion Quartararo was 23 points behind Bagnaia going into the final race. The Yamaha rider needed nothing less than a victory to leapfrog the Italian but finished fourth in a race won by Suzuki's Alex Rins. Bagnaia was ninth, enough to retain his lead in the championship and give Ducati their first title since Casey Stoner won it in 2007, ending 15 years of dominance from Japanese manufacturers. Despite a recent rally, RBA's Dan Suzuki says the bear market is far from over. In former market bottoms, investors who waited profited more than those who bought early, he said. Suzuki shared 5 sectors to invest in to position against slowing growth while still making returns. "There's always a chance that the bear market is over, but it seems unlikely in my view," he told Insider recently over email. But investors would be better served if they considered a more holistic view, Suzuki explained on the October 24 segment of CNBC's "Closing Bell."
We absolutely cannot tolerate excessively volatile moves driven by speculative trading," Suzuki told parliament on Thursday. "We will continue to take appropriate steps against excess volatility, while watching currency market developments with a strong sense of urgency," he said. Markets are on high alert on whether Japan will intervene in the currency market again as the yen falls near the key psychological barrier of 150 to the dollar. The government, which holds jurisdiction over currency policy, spent 2.8 trillion yen ($19 billion) in dollar-selling, yen-buying intervention last month when authorities acted in the markets to prop up the yen for the first time since 1998. The BOJ is widely expected to maintain its massive stimulus programme at its next two-day policy meeting ending in Oct. 28.
Banknotes of Japanese yen and U.S. dollar are seen in this illustration picture taken September 23, 2022. With a strong push from Japan, finance leaders of the Group of Seven advanced economies included a phrase in a statement on Wednesday saying they will closely monitor "recent volatility" in markets. "Many countries saw the need for vigilance to the spill-over effect of global monetary tightening, and mentioned currency moves in that context. "I've said on many occasions that I think a market-determined value for the dollar is in America's interest. "It's impossible to reverse the yen's downtrend with solo intervention," said Daisaku Ueno, chief forex strategist at Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley Securities.
