Wembanyama finished with 25 points, nine rebounds, seven assists, five steals and five blocks, becoming just the third player in NBA history with multiple 5x5 games after Hakeem Olajuwon and Andrei Kirilenko. CNN —Los Angeles Clippers star Kawhi Leonard will miss the rest of the preseason due to inflammation in his right knee, head coach Ty Lue said on Monday. Leonard, a two-time NBA champion, is yet to play for the Clippers this preseason and will sit out the team’s final warmup game against the Sacramento Kings on Thursday. Lue said Leonard would “continue to keep rehabbing” his knee this week, according to Reuters. ESPN’s Shams Charania reported last month that Leonard underwent a procedure on his right knee during the offseason. During the Los Angeles Lakers’ preseason game against the Phoenix Suns, LeBron and Bronny James became the first father/son duo to play together on an NBA team. Bronny, whose jersey is emblazed with “James Jr.” across the back, was selected 55th overall by the Lakers in the 2024 NBA draft in June, joining his father at the franchise. Lakers head coach JJ Redick said he is “thrilled” to be part of a team with LeBron and Bronny. CNN —Astronomers have observed a massive pair of jets releasing from a supermassive black hole 7.5 billion light-years from Earth. The megastructure spans 23 million light-years in length, making these black hole jets the largest ever seen, according to new research. Black hole jets can accelerate radiation and particles close to the speed of light, causing them to glow in wavelengths visible to radio telescopes. Budinger is a professional beach volleyball player these days, and alongside Team USA partner Miles Evans, is hoping for a deep run at the Games in Paris. Drafted by the Detroit Piston in 2009, he went on to play more than 400 NBA games with Houston Rockets, Minnesota Timberwolves, Indiana Pacers, and Phoenix Suns. A brief stint in Spain followed, after which Budinger decided to leave basketball and return to beach volleyball, making his professional debut in 2018. Paris CNN —LeBron James made his emphatic return to Olympic basketball on Sunday, turning in a dominant performance in a 110-84 win against Serbia, his first contest at the Games since 2012. James’ 21 points, eight rebounds and nine assists helped provide the spark for Team USA throughout the contest. The first half though was all about Kevin Durant, who scored 21 points on 8-for-8 shooting. Edwards finished with 11 points and five rebounds. It appeared to be the turning point that put Team USA on its way to a blowout win after Serbia hung around for much of the first three quarters of the game.

CNN —The USA Basketball Men’s National Team survived a late Australia fightback in an underwhelming 98-92 victory in an Olympic warmup game on Monday. But when Australia missed chances to reduce the deficit further, back-to-back three-pointers from Tyrese Haliburton sealed the USA win. Not that it’s often mattered, though, with Team USA winning seven of the eight men’s basketball gold medals on offer since professionals were able to participate for the first time at Barcelona 1992. “We stopped playing mid third quarter and started turning the ball over,” Team USA coach Steve Kerr said, per the NBA. For Australia, the defending Olympic bronze medalist, Jock Landale scored a game high 20 points to go with seven rebounds and six assists in a standout performance.

He’s going to be a killer rebounder, monster screener and will consistently establish his position even against some of the stronger NBA players. I’m done doubting Edey, even as an NBA player. As an enormous ballhandler with serious touch and incredible vision as a passer, Topić is clearly an NBA player, even if it doesn’t all translate. Shannon is an elite athlete, but the NBA game requires more nuance, especially if he continues to be an inconsistent shooter.
