“Also increasing muscle temperature is going to help improve power output,” Tsuyuki told NBC News in a Zoom call. The height the men attained when jumping was lower after a cold soak than a hot one. There was no difference in muscle soreness whether the men soaked in cold or hot water. “Don’t believe what you’re hearing on podcasts.”For a hot water soak, Putrino suggests:10 to 20 minutes at 98 to 104 degrees Fahrenheit. Whether you’re a fan of cold or hot, experiment and keep track of which temperature soak helps you recover the quickest, Putrino said.

LAS VEGAS — Max Verstappen is hoping that what happens in Vegas won't just stay in Vegas — it will go down in the history books. Verstappen, 27, of the Netherlands, can secure the trophy by finishing the 50-lap race ahead of his sole championship rival, Lando Norris. Norris needs to outscore Verstappen by at least 3 points to keep his title hopes alive, although they would be slim regardless. No other driver is mathematically in contention for the championship with three races left in the season. London CNN —The coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla held in May last year cost British taxpayers £72 million ($91 million), an amount some have labeled excessive. The £72 million spent on the coronation could have paid for 24 million free meals for schoolchildren in London, based on the city government’s current budget of £3.00 ($3.75) per meal. Some additional spending came from the Privy Purse, the monarch’s private source of income, a royal source told CNN. “Plans (for the coronation) were scaled back,” the royal source told CNN. The culture department, in its accounts, said it had underspent its budget on the coronation by £2.8 million ($3.5 million).

When Denzel Washington sweeps into “Gladiator II” — Ridley Scott’s epic about ancient Rome and men at war and sometimes in love — it’s with such easy grace that you may mistake his character’s loose bearing with indifference. What you’re seeing is power incarnate, power that’s so raw and so supremely self-possessed that it doesn’t announce itself. And it keeps taking as warriors enter the Colosseum to fight and die in the blood sport that gives this sequel to Scott’s 2000 drama “Gladiator” its sober backdrop and much of its juice. It is a performance of charismatic evil and of mesmerizing stardom both. Like Scott’s filmmaking in this pleasurably immersive spectacle — with its foreign ancients and mentalities, exotic animals and equally unfamiliar calls to human nobility — Washington’s performance has skill, intensity and absolute confidence.

The weather is getting chilly in many parts of the Northern Hemisphere, but but cold weather doesn’t mean that you have to stop your exercise routines. According to one recent study, people who achieved this amount of exercise per week had a 31% lower risk of mortality, 27% lower risk of developing cardiovascular disease, and 12% lower risk of developing cancer compared with inactive participants. Importantly, those who achieved just half this amount (75 minutes per week) also had substantial health benefits, with a 23% lower risk of early death, a 17% lower risk of developing cardiovascular disease, and 7% lower risk of developing cancer. Are you someone used to cold weather exercise, or are you trying it for the first time? On very cold days, and especially if you are not used to cold weather exercise, go with someone else.
