A private Facebook group that he founded, Michigan Preppers, has nearly 18,000 members, up from about 8,000 since the Covid pandemic. He attributes the growth to a feeling of turmoil during President Joe Biden’s term. “If Trump isn’t elected, I’m thinking we’re either looking at a military coup or we’re looking at a second civil war,” said the part-time steel company worker. “I don’t recognize this country. I don’t recognize this world,” said Michael Clark, a Trump supporter who lives in a rural community of fewer than 1,000 people near Lake Michigan.

“We shouldn’t be spending a dime on humanitarian aid.”He continued: “It should be like Nagasaki and Hiroshima. “As a child who grew up in the Cold War Era, the last thing I’d advocate for would be the use of nuclear weapons. My reasoning was the exact opposite of what is being reported: the quicker these wars end, the fewer innocent lives will be caught in the crossfire,” Walberg said in the statement. “The sooner Hamas and Russia surrender, the easier it will be to move forward. The use of this metaphor, along with the removal of context, distorted my message, but I fully stand by these beliefs and stand by our allies,” he added.

DETROIT (AP) — Ford Motor Co. said Monday that it's pausing construction of a $3.5 billion electric vehicle battery plant in Michigan until it is confident it can run the factory competitively. The move comes as the company is in the midst of national contract talks with the United Auto Workers union, which wants to represent workers at battery factories and win them top wages. In February, Ford announced plans to build the plant in Marshall, Michigan, employing about 2,500 workers to make lower-cost batteries for a variety of new and existing vehicles. But Ford spokesman TR Reid confirmed Monday that plant construction has been paused and spending has been limited on it. Earlier this year Virginia dropped out of the race for the same Ford plant after Republican Gov.

CNN —Ford is pausing work on a new, $3.5 billion electric vehicle battery plant in Michigan, even as the transition to electric vehicles has become a major sticking point in a United Auto Workers strike against automakers Ford, GM and Stellantis. No final decision has been made on whether the plant will, ultimately, become operational, said Ford spokesman T.R. If completed, the plant will be located on a 950-acre site in southern Michigan near the town of Marshall. The battery plant was planned to operate in addition to plants in Kentucky and Tennessee that Ford announced in 2021. Ford has said it plans to be able to produce 2 million electric vehicles globally by late 2026.
