Several of President-elect Donald Trump's planned Cabinet nominees and administration appointees were subjected to bomb threats and "swatting" attacks Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, a spokesperson for the Trump transition team said. These attacks ranged from bomb threats to ‘swatting,’" transition spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said in a statement. WASHINGTON — The Department of Justice on Friday charged an Iranian man in a murder-for-hire plot to assassinate then-candidate Donald Trump and two others in a plot to kill an American journalist critical of Tehran. The three who were charged are Farhad Shakeri of Iran; Carlisle Rivera of Brooklyn, New York; and Jonathan Loadholt, of Staten Island, New York. MUNICH — A U.S. citizen suspected of offering intelligence about the American military to China has been arrested in Frankfurt, German authorities said Thursday. Identified only as Martin D. under German privacy law, the federal prosecutors office said in a statement that the suspect “worked for the U.S. armed forces in Germany,” until recently. Prosecutors added that, as some point this year, the suspect “contacted Chinese government agencies and offered to provide them with sensitive U.S. military information for forwarding to a Chinese intelligence service.” They did not say when the offer took place. As Election Day finally arrives, election officials, legal experts and researchers are bracing for a flood of disinformation and legal claims as vote counting begins. The final week of the campaign featured three dynamics that could lead to a protracted legal dispute if the results are close, legal experts said. Election experts say that if a clear winner emerges quickly and voting proceeds without major disruptions, large numbers of Americans may have faith in the results. A misleading advertisement from the Election Integrity Network says “The Glitch Is In” alongside a carousel of news coverage of such procedural Election Day issues. The Election Integrity Network’s founder, Cleta Mitchell, promotes her thousand-strong group as a kind of “national neighborhood watch.”Researchers also point to a new kind of infrastructure around documenting and sharing such rumors on Election Day.

Outrage has followed the release of a video from a Halloween parade in Pennsylvania that seemed to depict Vice President Kamala Harris tied to a golf cart carrying a man wearing a mask of former President Donald Trump. The float moved along a main street in Mount Pleasant, a town of about 4,000 people located 45 miles southeast of Pittsburgh. A video appeared to show a woman dressed as Harris with her hands tied at the Halloween parade Wednesday. The fire department did not immediately respond to a request for comment from NBC News or share who did the float belong to. The fire department said on Facebook that it has “traditionally only provided safety & traffic control” during the parade.
