Childfree workers told Business Insider they often feel pressured to cover for parents at work. Benson's not alone in experiencing the tension of splitting work between childfree workers and those with kids. For childfree workers, it may lead to resentment, or feeling like their time isn't as valuable. And that might, in turn, lead to childfree workers being asked to take on more. But the childfree workers, parents, and experts that Business Insider spoke with say that making it a worker-to-worker dispute takes the onus off of companies and policy.

But home prices are still on the rise, according to a November 28 note from Selma Hepp, the chief economist at CoreLogic. The outcome is that many remain renters, which drives up demand for rental property and the cost of rent. If the cost of rent is 20% below the price of owning a home monthly, then it may be comparable. Rent prices are based on listings from Rent.com. For example, take the cost of rent over five years; let's say it's $3,000 x 12 months = $36,000 annually.

The new software arrives roughly a year after OpenAI’s ChatGPT burst onto the scene, setting off a frenzy of investment in generative AI startups. AWS CEO Adam Selipsky, at Amazon’s annual cloud computing conference in Las Vegas, announced a new safeguard against objectionable content on generative AI applications, called Guardrails for Bedrock. Because generative AI is trained on publicly available content, offensive words or other objectionable content can slip through into results from users’ prompts. Selipsky said the new service was important for customers to put limits they see fit on the generative AI they use. Also at the conference, Amazon announced it would indemnify its customers against lawsuits based on the misuse of copyrighted materials.

REUTERS/Benoit Tessier/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsNov 27 (Reuters) - Former Binance chief Changpeng Zhao must stay in the United States for the time being, a federal judge said on Monday, after the founder of the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange pleaded guilty to violating U.S. anti-money laundering laws. U.S. District Judge Richard Jones in Seattle said he would review whether Zhao should have to stay in the United States after the U.S. government appealed a decision by another judge allowing Zhao to return to the UAE before his Feb. 23 sentencing hearing. Last week, Zhao conceded: "I made mistakes, and I must take responsibility." The government had said it may be unable to secure Zhao's return to the United States given it has no extradition treaty with the UAE. Lawyers for Zhao disputed that he was a potential flight risk, noting that he paid a "substantial" bail package and voluntarily came to the United States to accept responsibility for his actions.

A judge still needs to decide whether Zhao will be required to remain in the country to wait for sentencing for violating anti-money-laundering requirements . The sentencing is scheduled for late February. Zhao stepped down as chief executive of Binance last week after pleading guilty to one count in a Seattle federal court. SEATTLE (AP) — Denis Bouanga scored his fourth goal of the MLS Cup playoffs in the 30th minute, goalkeeper Maxime Crepeau made seven saves, and defending champion Los Angeles FC advanced to the Western Conference final with a 1-0 win over the Seattle Sounders on Sunday night. Bouanga got one chance at goal and didn’t miss, scoring in his sixth straight game and sending LAFC home for the conference championship game against the Houston Dynamo next Saturday. Bouanga was the Golden Boot winner during the regular season with 20 goals and he added three more in LAFC’s opening round victory over Vancouver. His goal came despite Seattle controlling play for most of the first half and having two great chances in the opening five minutes that were denied by Crepeau. European regulators said Monday that Amazon’s proposed acquisition of robot vacuum maker iRobot may harm competition. The European Commission, the European Union’s executive arm and top antitrust enforcer, said it has informed Amazon of its “preliminary view” regarding the deal following an investigation that began in July. The news raised investors' concerns about the acquisition, sending shares in Bedford, Massachusetts-based iRobot Corp., most famous for the circular-shaped Roomba vacuum, down more than 17% Monday. “IRobot, which faces intense competition from other vacuum cleaner suppliers, offers practical and inventive products,” Miller said. But British antitrust regulators cleared Amazon’s purchase of iRobot back in June.
