In a world where sentiment drives purchasing decisions, these differences in opinion could shape how much people end up spending this holiday season. "It's very hard being a millennial and having to worry about buying a house, affording groceries, rent, all that stuff. Meanwhile, Trump voter Armando Duarte, a 62-year-old retired utility worker from Fort Lee, New Jersey, told CNBC he's feeling a lot better about the holiday shopping season since Trump won. In GOP-won states, shipping volumes increased by 50.4% after the election, while Democrat-won states saw volumes decrease by an average of 11.2%. Only two blue states — Illinois and Minnesota — saw shipping volumes increase after the election, while all others saw rates fall.

The sale includes Infowars’ website, studio equipment, online dietary supplement store and social media accounts, which are followed by millions of users. In past legal disputes over account ownership, social media companies have left it to the courts and parties involved to work it out. But in this case, X is stepping in, objecting to Jones and Infowars’ X accounts being part of the sale. That stands out to experts in social media law. “What conceivable motivation does a company have for destroying the value in their users’ accounts, and implicitly threatening all other users?” Butterfield said.

AP —Baseball star Shohei Ohtani wants his former interpreter to hand over hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of baseball cards he says were fraudulently bought using his money. The legal filing alleges Mizuhara accessed Ohtani’s bank account beginning around November 2021, changing his security protocols so that he could impersonate him to authorize wire transfers. By 2024, Mizuhara had used that money to buy about $325,000 worth of baseball cards at online resellers eBay and Whatnot, according to the court documents. Ippei Mizuhara, the former interpreter for the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball star Shohei Ohtani, leaves federal court in Santa Ana, California, on June 4, 2024. Silicon Valley, long considered a progressive stronghold, has begun to shift toward Donald Trump, according to new voting data analyzed by Business Insider. These numbers show that Trump and Republicans are still a long way off from gaining any real majorities in Silicon Valley. While Elon Musk is based in Texas these days, many of his companies, including Tesla, are still very active in Silicon Valley. Trump, with Musk in support, has promised to cut regulations, which could help Silicon Valley startups grow more quickly. The trend toward Trump in the Silicon Valley electorate mirrors statewide and national trends.

It's ramping up its efforts this holiday to get people to shop while watching TV. Walmart is making its biggest push yet this holiday season to get people to shop while watching TV by debuting its first feature-length movie. Walmart didn't share specific results of last year's experiment but made some key tweaks this time around:AdvertisementFirst, "Jingle Bell Love" is a feature film. Add the fact that shoppable TV doesn't always fit neatly into ad agencies' buying practices, and it's been slow to take off. Walmart"Jingle Bell Love" isn't the only way Walmart will try to get people to shop from their TVs this holiday season.

Others, including Marc Andreessen, say AI models aren't getting noticeably better and are all converging to perform at roughly similar levels. The weeks heading into year-end often mark a bullish time for stocks, and smaller companies especially might be poised for outperformance. With that in mind, Jeffrey Hirsch, editor-in-chief of the Stock Trader's Almanac, believes investors should buy small caps from the Tuesday before Thanksgiving this year and hold them until Jan. 3rd, 2025. The tendency for small caps to outperform large caps from mid-December through January, combined with the so-called Santa Claus rally right around Christmas, can bolster small-cap growth stocks, Hirsch said. That rally "rhymes with the post-2016 election move," according to John Hancock Investment Management co-chief investment strategist Emily Roland. He's really focused more on the food companies, eating healthier, vaccine companies and just making sure they're held to the same standards."

While economists say this holiday shopping season could ultimately be the most normal one (sales-wise) since before the pandemic, it’s also decked out with plenty of uncertainty. While it would set a new record as well (keep in mind, those figures aren’t adjusted for inflation), this holiday season might be a little more muted than last. A shortened holiday seasonA short shopping season, however, may force the hands of retailers who are looking to hold back on deep promotions. This year, there are 26 days between Thanksgiving and Christmas, marking the shortest holiday shopping season possible. Courtesy Dan MarshallMarshall remains quite optimistic that Mischief will enjoy yet another strong Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and, ultimately, holiday season.

Mr. Trump was indicted for aiding a possible coup and multiple other charges, including revealing classified documents to his supporters at Mar-a-Lago. Is that weaponizing our justice system, or allowing it to do its job, regardless of the consequences? Jair Bolsonaro, Brazil’s former president, was just charged with inciting Brazil’s attempted coup when he lost his re-election bid in 2022. It seems Brazil’s justice system is more capable of upholding its laws than ours is. I am now totally disgusted with my country and the judicial system over the Donald Trump legal fiasco.

Observably, both DI- and DI+ are reversing course, suggesting an early sign of a trend change. Support/Resistance Beyond technical indicators, traditional support and resistance levels further validate this trade setup. OLED has shown strong support at the 160 level, with the stock rebounding from this area, reinforcing the bullish case. To take a bullish trade on OLED, I'm using a trade structure called a "bull call spread." If OLED keeps going up from here and the stock price is above $170, a 170-175 call spread is also a feasible trade setup.

Torrential rain and snow across the country this week could disrupt the record number of travelers expected to be on the roads and in the skies for the Thanksgiving holiday. Waves of storm systems are expected to move through the East Coast this week, threatening to disrupt some Thanksgiving travel on Tuesday and bringing rain and potentially snow on Thanksgiving Day. Forecasters expect it to bring mostly nuisance rain that may slow down some travelers. This week’s event should be weaker, affecting areas farther south in Central and Southern California, rather than in places that are still saturated from last week. Any rain that falls in Los Angeles should be lighter, while the heavier rain of a few inches is likely to fall over areas farther north, like Santa Barbara.

Hyundai Motor North America announced it will recall over 42,000 vehicles due to a wiring issue that can cause the automobiles to roll away, according to a notice issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on Wednesday. The 2025 Hyundai Santa Cruz and Hyundai Tucson vehicles subject to the recall have transmissions that can shift out of “park” without the brake pedal having to be applied, increasing the risk of a crash or an injury, per the administration. All 2025 Santa Cruz and Tucson vehicles in the U.S. are subject to the recall, including over 35,500 Tucson and 6,900 Santa Cruz vehicles. In early November, it was discovered that the wiring issue that caused the issue with the Tucson vehicle may also have impacted Santa Cruz vehicles. This prompted a review from the North America Safety Decision Authority on Nov. 13 and a recall of the vehicles.
