South Dakota is not participatingSouth Dakota Gov. The $68.6 million of federal money that had been set aside for South Dakota rebates will be redistributed among participating states. Fury also noted this isn't the first time South Dakota has rejected federal spending. Bipartisan legislation to create an energy rebate program had existed almost a decade earlier, like the Home Star Energy Retrofit Act in 2010. Ron DeSantis in 2023 had vetoed the state's authority to spend about $5 million of federal funds to administer the energy rebate program.

President Biden and former President Donald J. Trump won overwhelming victories in state primaries on Tuesday, while a small but significant protest vote in both parties continued to assert itself against each candidate. Mr. Biden and Mr. Trump, who have already clinched their nominations, scored yawning leads in primaries in Connecticut, New York, Rhode Island and Wisconsin, with the races called shortly after polls closed in each state. Mr. Trump held at least 75 percent of the vote in every state as of 11 p.m. Mr. Trump was weakest in Connecticut, where he notched under 78 percent of the vote, while Ms. Haley took about 14 percent. Mr. Biden held at least 80 percent of the vote in every primary as of 11 p.m.

Former President Donald J. Trump will campaign on immigration and border policy today with events planned in Michigan and Wisconsin, two crucial battleground states in the Midwest. Mr. Trump and President Biden have already clinched their nominations, though, so the outcomes of today’s primaries are not in doubt. Nikki Haley, who dropped out of the race early last month, took nearly 18 percent of the vote against Mr. Trump in the Arizona primary two weeks ago. Mr. Biden won both Michigan and Wisconsin in the 2020 election, and Mr. Trump’s Tuesday trip to Grand Rapids follows a weaker-than-expected performance in the Michigan primary against Ms. Haley. Yet that has done little to quell the protest effort against Mr. Biden in upcoming primaries.
