A former Kansas police chief linked to the Aug. 11, 2023, raid of a local newspaper was formally charged with one count of interference with the judicial process. She collapsed and died the day after the raid, and Meyer blamed her death on the stress of the raid. Two special prosecutors said Monday they will file a criminal obstruction of justice charge against a former Kansas police chief who directed warrant searches of a publisher and his newsroom over its retrieval of public information. As of Monday, prosecutors hadn't filed any criminal charges against former Marion Police Chief Gideon Cody. It was not immediately clear if they would be seeking a felony or misdemeanor charge against Cody. The special prosecutors are working with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, which stepped in at the request of the Kansas Bureau of Investigation. “The findings will be incorporated into charges which will be sought in Marion County District Court,” the report said.

(AP) — Former firearms executive turned gun industry critic Ryan Busse is seeking the 2024 Democratic nomination to challenge first-term Republican Governor Greg Gianforte in Montana. “To me this is a narrative about Greg Gianforte making this a playground for the wealthy and ignoring the people of Montana,” Busse said Wednesday. During a 25-year career in the firearms industry, Busse said, he directed the sale of almost 3 million guns from the manufacturer Kimber America. AHMEDABAD,India/NEW DELHI June 10 (Reuters) - India's western states of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa and other coastal regions are on alert after meteorologists warned that a cyclonic storm over the Arabian sea would intensify over the next 24 hours. It warned of heavy rainfall at isolated places in the state of Kerala and coastal Karnataka region in next three days. In Gujarat, the 13 coastal districts of South Gujarat, Saurashtra peninsula and Kutch have been put on alert. "We are fully prepared to deal with any situation," Kamal Dayani, additional chief secretary in the state revenue department, told Reuters. Teams from the National Disaster Response Force and State Disaster Response Force have been deployed in the districts likely to be affected by the storm.
