About 1.3 million cars, or 30% of the country's total, will be electric by 2030.
By 2050, the ministry expects all 6 million cars on the road to be electric.
The increase is expected despite a hike in taxes on electric cars.
In addition, about 35% of buses will be electric by 2030, it said.
