A hiker was found dead Monday along a trail in Big Bend National Park in Texas after rangers noticed a vehicle that had been parked for several days and launched a search, staff members said. The National Park Service did not name the 24-year-old hiker in a statement. The Marufo Vega Trail is one of the most rugged locations at Big Bend National Park in Texas. New York CNN —Tickets for this year’s highly anticipated World Series between the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers are set to be the most expensive ever. Tickets for the 2023 Series, in which the Texas Rangers clinched their first championship, cost about $776 on average across five games, TickPick said. The previous most expensive World Series was in 2016 between the Chicago Cubs and Cleveland, when the average ticket cost $1,691. It’s also the first time in more than four decades that the Yankees and Dodgers will meet in the World Series, since a 1981 matchup. A Diamond attorney made the comments before a U.S. bankruptcy judge on Wednesday as part of an update on the company's ongoing bankruptcy process and attempt at finalizing a reorganization plan. Some of those teams were already slated to see their contracts end this season, and some contracts are not being determined by the bankruptcy process, a Diamond spokesperson said. "To be clear, rejecting these teams is not our preferred path," Diamond attorney Andrew Goldman said on Wednesday. Goldman said Diamond had warned the league about this outcome in August, noting it was a possibility if the MLB rejected Diamond's latest proposal.

JOHANNESBURG Associated Press —An American woman who went missing while on a hike on Table Mountain in Cape Town, South Africa, has died and her body has been recovered, authorities said on Monday. The woman has been identified as a 20-year-old student from North Carolina named Brook Cheuvront. The management of SANParks, which manages Table Mountain and other national parks, said the cause of death was still unclear and an inquest into her death has been opened. An initial search was conducted by rangers, wilderness search and rescue members, and trail runners until late Saturday evening when it was no longer practical to continue, said Louw. South African authorities have urged people to avoid hiking on their own, suggesting it be done in groups of at least four people.

Emmanuel-Thomas – who also used to feature for current Premier League side Ipswich Town – currently plays for Scottish second-tier club, Greenock Morton. CNN has contacted Emmanuel-Thomas and Greenock Morton for comment. The NCA said Emmanuel-Thomas was taken to Carlisle in England to be questioned. A Colorado man on a river trip to the Grand Canyon was found dead over the weekend, officials said Monday, in what appears to be the seventh death at the park since July 31. Patrick Horton, 59, was on day 10 of a noncommercial trip along the Colorado River when others in his party found his body Saturday morning near the river, the park said in a news release. The Grand Canyon recorded an average of 17 deaths per year from 2014 to 2023, a park spokeswoman has said. Since 2019, 2 million to 5 million people have visited the Grand Canyon each year, park data shows. Park data that looked at mortality reports from 2014 to 2019 shows that "photographing" was the most lethal recreational activity at the Grand Canyon.
