The Federal Trade Commission is launching an investigation into so-called "surveillance pricing," seeking more information about how artificial intelligence is used to change pricing rapidly based on data about customer behavior and characteristics. The FTC says the practice allows companies to charge different customers, different prices. "When you invest in a jersey, that means you really appreciate that person, their character, and what they bring to the game," Krieger said. Sports Innovation Lab estimates the women's sports merchandise industry is worth $4 billion — conservatively. People simply don't know where to find merchandise — 32% of fans reported having an issue finding a seller for women's sports merchandise compared to just 18% of fans looking for men's, according to Sports Innovation Lab's 2024 Women's Sports Merchandise Survey. But while big brands are making strides in partnering with women's professional teams to create merchandise, the women's sports merch buying experience is still lacking. Building the women's game takes an ecosystem of collaboration involving fans, athletes, leagues, team sponsors, and retailers.

In a Thursday interview with CNBC's Jim Cramer, AeroVironment CEO Wahid Nawabi described how the defense contractor's drones are used in battle, saying the technology will be a significant part of modern warfare. "The fundamental shift in warfare is that distributed intelligent robotic systems, loitering munitions, small drones — that's what we specialize in — is going to be a much bigger piece of the warfare in the future," he said. Nawabi discussed weapons including the Switchblade 600 — a kamikaze-type drone — and the Puma AE, which is primarily used for surveillance. The former is unique because it is able to "loiter" for 40 minutes to find a target, he said. According to Nawabi, the U.S. Army plans to buy more than a thousand Switchblade 600s as part of the Pentagon's latest initiative.

The fashion for luggage patches began around the 1900s — they were typically offered by grand, palatial hotels. “In this age of nostalgia… I say bring back the travel sticker,” wrote the New York Times in 1971, insisting that the colorful decorations are key to evoking pleasant memories and standing out from the crowd.

Mahuchikh won her first world championship title in August, then successfully defended her Diamond League Final victory in September. German sports retailer Puma on Wednesday said Argentina's major devaluation of its currency in December hit its financial results. Full-year currency-adjusted sales growth was estimated at 6.6%, versus an outlook for high single-digit growth, with sales of around 8.6 million euros ($9.37 million). Earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) came in at around 622 million euros. The impact was particularly pronounced in the fourth quarter, where "the application of hyperinflationary accounting led to a sales decline," Puma said in the results. However, the consensus does not take negative effects from the extraordinary devaluation of the Argentine peso into account," it added.
