He has appointed three trustees of his charitable trust to potentially succeed his children in disbursing his wealth. They are also somewhat younger than my children," Buffett wrote. For Disney's fiscal 2025, streaming will generate enough operating income to offset the parallel decline in operating income from linear TV, Johnston said in an interview. Disney projects entertainment direct-to-consumer operating income will increase by about $875 million next year over fiscal year 2024. That would put the division at over $1 billion in operating income for the coming fiscal year. Disney's combined streaming businesses improved their profitability in the company's fiscal fourth quarter, posting operating income of $321 million. For the year, Disney's entertainment streaming platforms (Disney+ and Hulu) made $143 million in operating income.

Representative Don Bacon of Nebraska, one of the most politically vulnerable Republicans in the country, has defeated his Democratic challenger and won a fifth term, according to The Associated Press. His victory denies Democrats one of their best opportunities this year to pick up a seat and bolsters his party’s drive to hold its majority. The race was the second matchup between Mr. Bacon and Tony Vargas, who came within 6,000 votes of unseating the congressman in 2022. Mr. Vargas came up short again on Friday evening, even after top Democrats including Representative Hakeem Jeffries, the minority leader, and Gov. The contest between Mr. Bacon, 61, a former brigadier general in the Air Force, and Mr. Vargas, 40, a former public-school teacher who is the son of Peruvian immigrants, featured debates over national issues including abortion rights, taxes and public safety.

Vice President Kamala Harris has won Nebraska’s 2nd Congressional District, NBC News projects, earning an electoral vote from a red state. The historically competitive 2nd District, which includes Omaha and the surrounding suburban areas, has oscillated between Democratic and Republican representation (and presidential winners) in recent years. Nebraska is one of two states that allocates its electoral votes by congressional district. I’m voting for Harris.”Trump’s allies failed in their effort to change Nebraska’s electoral vote allocation back to a winner-take-all system. In a state that has leaned Republican going back decades, had lawmakers reverted to that model, Trump would have captured all five of the state’s electoral votes.

With over 80% of the expected vote in, Fox News and The New York Times have called the district and its Electoral College vote for Harris. Related storiesNebraska and Maine are the only two states to award some of their Electoral College votes by congressional district. Harris and Trump are campaigning in swing states as they make their final appeals to voters. AdvertisementWith Election Day on Tuesday, the end is in sight for what has been a contentious US presidential race between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump. It wasn't long before Harris began to narrow the gap between the Democrats and the GOP in the presidential race. Now, millions of women live in states with near-total abortion bans, while millions of other women live in states where abortion rights have been strengthened. In the closing days of the race, Harris has heavily emphasized the issue, which also helped Democrats in the 2022 midterms.
