Mahomes vs. Allen, Round 8The NFL schedulers probably should have made this the Sunday night contest. The Bears rank seventh against the pass, have allowed only 18.6 points per game (seventh-best) and have 16 takeaways (also seventh). Foes do find it hard to run on Baltimore, which gives up an NFL-low 73.0 rushing yards per game. They are holding opponents to a league-best 13.1 points per game, and haven’t allowed more than 20 points in any game this season. So this matchup will be a good measuring stick for the Chargers’ defense, while proving whether Herbert and company can win in a shootout if necessary.

Yet this season he is on pace to produce marks in passer rating, air yards per attempt, yards per passing attempt, quarterback rating, passing yards and interceptions that are better than in either of his previous MVP campaigns, in 2019 and 2023. They are the only remaining undefeated team in the NFL after overcoming their recent rivals, the San Francisco 49ers, on Sunday. All-in-all, after seven weeks of the NFL season, the AFC is heating up with multiple potential superpowers really kicking into gear. And things went from bad to worse on Sunday when starting quarterback Deshaun Watson suffered a season-ending injury. On Monday, Browns head coach Kevin Stefanksi confirmed that Watson had suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon, ending the quarterback’s season.

Wilson found his rhythm as the game went on, showing great chemistry with George Pickens. Wilson and the Steelers capitalized on the miscue, when the QB hit Pickens for a touchdown to cap a four-play, 54-yard drive.
