Indigenous researchers are up against a ticking clock: Of the 4,000 Indigenous languages worldwide, one dies every two weeks with its last speaker. He leads First Languages AI Reality, an initiative of the Mila-Quebec Artificial Intelligence Institute, where researchers are building speech recognition models for over 200 endangered Indigenous languages in North America. However, first, he must overcome a major roadblock: There aren’t enough Indigenous computer scientist graduates — people who know the language and culture — to tackle these language preservation projects. “We only graduate one or two Indigenous Ph.D.s in AI and computer science every year,” he said. An FBI agent was arrested and charged with multiple counts of sexual assault two years after he was acquitted of attempted murder. Two women allege they were raped inside a tattoo studio, and police say Valdivia may be have additional victims. The woman returned for a second shoot at a nearby hotel and was again sexually assaulted by Valdivia, police said. The FBI Washington Field Office s noaid in a statement the agency is cooperating with Montgomery police in their investigation of Valdivia. Valdivia told the man, “Watch your mouth,” and the man turned around and approached Valdivia, who told him to back up multiple times prior to the shooting.

An animal rights extremist believed to be behind a pair of bombings in Northern California over two decades ago was caught in Wales on Monday, authorities said. FBI Director Christopher Wray celebrated the capture of Daniel Andreas San Diego, 46, saying on Tuesday the suspect will finally be held "accountable" for his alleged acts of "violence and destruction." He's also accused of sending a "bomb strapped with nails" that went off at a nutritional company, Shaklee Corp., in nearby Pleasanton, on Sept. 26, 2003. The FBI believed that San Diego, who was born in Berkeley, bombed the firms because they had worked with another lab that had conducted animals experiments. “There’s a right way and a wrong way to express your views in our country, and turning to violence and destruction of property is not the right way," Wray added.
