REUTERS/Carlo Allegri/Illustration/File PhotoAug 2 (Reuters) - Yum Brands (YUM.N) topped market estimates for quarterly results on Wednesday, as cheaper meals and promotional offers at its KFC restaurants boosted demand and overshadowed lackluster traffic at Taco Bell and Pizza Hut.
Quarterly comparable sales at KFC rose 13%, handily beating estimates of 8.29%, and logging the best same-store sales growth in at least seven quarters.
Same-store sales at Yum Brands rose 9% in the quarter ended June 30, compared with analysts' estimates of a 7.01% increase, according to Refinitiv IBES data.
Excluding items, Yum Brands earned $1.41 per share, above estimates of $1.24 per share.
