A European foodtech startup cofounded by a former Belgian senator has just raised 12 million euros (around $12.8 million) to make plant-based food taste better. The proteins are a form of heme, which has been deemed key in unlocking a meaty look, taste, texture, and aroma for plant-based food. Paleo will sell its products to other plant-based food companies so they don't have to develop it in-house. "The main challenge now in the plant-based food space, it's taste, and that's exactly where we offer a solution," he said.

Earlier promises made by robotaxi companies of operating fleets of vehicles by the early 2020s have fallen well short. BMW iVentures has also invested in AV truck technology firm Kodiak Robotics, which managing partner Sage said has adopted a simpler approach to areas like mapping. Construction and agricultural equipment - used off-road in low-traffic environments - has been another growth area for AV startups. U.S. agricultural equipment maker AGCO Corp (AGCO.N), for instance, is using the Palo Alto, California-based startup's software for an experimental automated electric planter.

BOLD PAC spent a record $6 million supporting the candidates in their races. There are currently 38 Latinos in Congress, 28 of them Democrats and 10 Republicans, according to the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials Educational Fund. After the elections, that number has increased to at least 45 in the next Congress that starts in January, with 34 Democrats and 11 Republicans, which would make it a record number of Latinos in Congress, according to NALEO. The Congressional Hispanic Caucus was founded as a bipartisan caucus, but as Republicans numbers grew, GOP members broke off and formed the Congressional Hispanic Conference. Talk to Latino voters early and recruit Latinos and Latinas to run and not just in majority Latino districts.

NALEO projects about 11.6 million Latinos will vote on Nov. 8 — about the same as in 2018. "I don't know if (concern about abortion) is going to be strong enough to overcome how important economic issues are to Latino voters," Vargas said. Vargas also projected that Latinos are likely to turn out for next week's elections at levels similar to their record 2018 turnout. Nearly 11.7 million Latinos voted in the 2018 midterms, a 73% jump from 2014. NALEO projects about 11.6 million Latinos will vote in the Nov. 8 elections. Latino turnout in California, Florida, Illinois, New Jersey, New York and North Carolina should be about the same as in 2018. About 2 million Latinos have turned 18 since 2020, according to the Center for Information Research and Research on Civic Learning and Engagement.
