CNN —A major software supply-chain company, which counts US and UK grocery stores and Fortune 500 firms as clients, said it was hit by a ransomware attack this weekend. A Blue Yonder spokesperson did not answer questions about which clients were affected, including those in the United States. “On November 21, 2024, Blue Yonder experienced disruptions to its managed services hosted environment, which was determined to be the result of a ransomware incident,” Blue Yonder said in an initial public statement on Friday. Some of the biggest US grocery chains use Blue Yonder, including Albertsons — the parent company of chains like Safeway and Jewel-Osco — and Kroger, the parent company of chains like Ralphs and Fred Meyer. We can see the cup-with-handle pattern developing on the daily chart, consisting of a six-month rounded bottoming pattern followed by a brief pullback in the month of October. The key to a cup with handle pattern is the "rim" of the cup, which is essentially a trendline connecting the highs during the price pattern. Other indicators on the chart seem to suggest that an impending breakout is likely, especially the RSI which has been in a bullish range since July of this year. Similar to the daily chart, we can see the weekly RSI has been in a bullish range for the last five years. This continued bullish momentum range suggests a bullish secular trend, reinforcing the upside potential represented on the daily chart.

The Summary BrucePac, a producer of precooked meat and poultry, has recalled nearly 10 million pounds of ready-to-eat food items because of a listeria risk. A recall of nearly 10 million pounds of ready-to-eat meat and chicken products affects items sold at major stores nationwide, including Trader Joe’s, Wegmans, 7-Eleven and Kroger. The list of recalled items consists primarily of premade salads, burritos and wraps containing chicken, sometimes alongside other meats, like bacon or ham. In July, Boar’s Head recalled more than 7 million pounds of deli meat over listeria concerns. An earlier recall of cheese products from dairy maker Rizo Lopez was linked to two listeria deaths and more than 20 hospitalizations.

New York CNN —On the second Monday of October, Americans will be celebrating Indigenous Peoples’ Day, also known as Columbus Day. Indigenous Peoples’ Day recognizes the contributions and legacy of those who lived here long before Christopher Columbus erroneously claimed to have discovered America. President Joe Biden formally recognized Indigenous Peoples’ Day in 2021 by signing a proclamation stating that federal policies “systematically sought to assimilate and displace Native people and eradicate Native cultures.”Some states officially celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day and others commemorate it through proclamations. More than 100 cities have replaced Columbus Day altogether with the holiday. Chase Bank and TD Bank will be open for Indigenous Peoples’ Day.
