"Karoline is smart, tough, and has proven to be a highly effective communicator," Trump said in a statement. It took months for Democrats to settle on their primary presidential calendar, an extended battle that ended up booting Iowa and New Hampshire from the mix and vaulting South Carolina to the top of the pack. “The 2024 calendar will absolutely not be the calendar for 2028,” said Nebraska state party chair Jane Kleeb. It’s not guaranteed that just because Trump has massive power he will spurn constitutional checks and balances. No other president has come into office armed with a Supreme Court ruling that grants significant immunity to presidents for official acts. Attempts to prosecute Trump’s political foes on spurious grounds, meanwhile, could theoretically see mass resignations of Justice Department staff.
