Xreal, an augmented reality glasses maker, has launched a connected Beam Pro mobile device that allows users to capture spatial video and 3D images. Xreal said the Beam Pro uses Nvidia CloudXR technology for image rendering and Qualcomm 's Snapdragon spatial computing platform. A pair of Xreal AR glasses costs around $200 to $400, depending on the model and sales promotion. That means a set of Xreal AR glasses and Beam Pro costs significantly less than $1,000. Read previewThe last thing Tim Cook needs this year is for the iPhone to give him a headache. Unfortunately for Apple, that task could be complicated as signs emerge that its workhorse gadget needs a revamp. In its most recent quarter, Apple generated almost $70 billion of its $119.6 billion total revenue from iPhone sales. China, Apple's most important international market, has started to sour on iPhones, bucking a trend of growth in other regions. Apple's AI efforts, led by ex-Googler and senior vice president John Giannandrea, could introduce several AI features to iPhones that offer an edge over Chinese competitors.

Apple became the world's largest smartphone maker in 2023 for the first time ever. Despite a rough start to 2024, we think the company can build on this momentum in the U.S. and China. Apple's frontrunner status was confirmed in separate industry research reports from International Data Corporation (IDC) on Monday and Canalys on Tuesday. To be sure, Apple's iPhone is facing intensified competition in China as domestic players like Huawei and Xiaomi have started offering high-end alternatives. The new Apple iPhone 15 on display inside the tech giant's flagship store in Regent Street, central London. A slower-than-expected recovery in China, the world's largest smartphone market, also weighed on overall phone sales. Apple and Transsion were the only brands in the top five to record growth in shipments last year, when the market declined 3.2% to 1.17 billion units and hit a decade low. Apple, however, is facing pressure in China from a resurgent Huawei as well as from budget Chinese brands. The iPhone-maker is offering rare discounts of as much as 5% on some models in the country to attract customers.

TAIPEI, May 3 (Reuters) - Taiwan is seeking U.S. cooperation to make the island's next domestically developed fighter jet, the head of Taiwanese defence contractor Aerospace Industrial Development Corp (AIDC) (2634.TW) said on Wednesday. Taiwan's air force scrambles daily to see off incursions by Chinese jets into the airspace around the island as Beijing steps up its pressure to try and force Taiwan to accept China's sovereignty. While the mainstay of Taiwan's air force is Lockheed Martin Corp's (LMT.N) F-16s and French-build Mirages it also uses AIDC's F-CK-1 Ching-kuo Indigenous Defence Fighter, or IDF. Taiwan in 2017 announced the next generation fighter programme, to include stealth capabilities, but has given few details since. Even the United States has been unwilling to provide Taiwan its most advanced fighters like the F-22 or F-35, and Taiwan has no direct answer to China's new J-20 stealth fighter.

Logitech 's stock should fall tougher economic conditions hit personal computer and video spending, Deutsche Bank said Friday. Brown also lowered his price target by CHF14 to CHF54, which presents a downside of 4.7% over Thursday's close. The stock is down nearly 9% so far in 2023, even as the broader market has turned up to start the year. Industry research data IDC's PC tracker showed personal computer shipments were down 28% in the fourth quarter of 2022 compared with the same period a year prior. To be sure, Logitech sales have a historically low correlation to personal computer shipments, but Brown warned the correlation is growing stronger as the broader economic worsens.
