For the first time, the Democratic National Committee will invest in an advertising campaign dedicated entirely to LGBTQ publications in large metropolitan areas and several key battleground states. The DNC will roll out the ad campaign, worth at least $100,000, on Friday morning in 16 publications across eight states, and it is estimated to reach more than 1 million voters in the first week. The DNC is rolling out an ad campaign on Friday in 16 LGBTQ publications across eight states. The DNC worked on the ads with Rivendell, the oldest LGBTQ marketing and media company in the country. Magni said LGBTQ voters have historically been taken for granted by the Democratic Party because the majority of them vote Democratic, often because Republicans have supported anti-LGBTQ policies and voters feel like they don’t have another option.

“No matter the strength of their arguments.”Democratic officials also said the virtual roll call should not happen before Aug. 1. The convention’s rules committee will vote in a meeting next week on whether to conduct a virtual roll call. On Friday, at least eight more Congressional Democrats, including Senator Martin Heinrich of New Mexico, called on Mr. Biden to withdraw from the race. changed its process to nominate Mr. Biden to accommodate an Aug. 7 deadline to place him on the ballot in Ohio. chair, acknowledged the controversy over holding a virtual roll call but defended the move as transparent, necessary and long planned.

Democrats have been planning for weeks to conclude Biden’s nomination process before August 7 – well before the Chicago convention next month. But even as those entreaties are being made daily behind the scenes, plans are being made to solidify his standing with the help of party rules in the Democratic convention process. Democratic National Committee Chairman Jaime Harrison pushed back on any suggestion that attempts might be underway within the DNC to accelerate the virtual roll call. “Fourteen million people voted for me to be the nominee in the Democratic Party. “That’s the democratic process,” Biden said of the ability of delegates to change their mind, before adding confidently: “It’s not going to happen.”This story has been updated with additional reporting.

In his outsider bid for the White House, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is flanked by a team of unlikely political characters: new age health gurus, anti-vaccine activists, social media influencers, veterans of fringe third-party campaigns, cryptocurrency evangelists and militant environmentalists. Now a Hollywood screenwriter, Mr. Carson, 47, has the résumé of a Democratic insider. He was the press secretary for Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign. He worked for Bill Clinton, Chuck Schumer, Tom Daschle, Howard Dean and Michael Bloomberg. But over the past year, he has become a quiet, steadying force behind a candidate who is at war with the Democratic Party.

W. James Antle III Courtesy W. James Antle IIIHaley had steadfastly maintained that she wouldn’t budge if South Carolina Republicans opted for Trump over her. Polling in Michigan and many of the Super Tuesday states suggests the results will get increasingly worse for Haley from here. And given the deep commitment so many delegates have to Trump, Haley stretching out a long negative primary does not make her a likely Trump emergency replacement. In the coming days, Haley will hear from many Republicans who don’t want the Republican primary to end any time soon. But past primaries have gone on longer because other candidates have kept winning; Haley has no wins on the horizon.

A GOP divide in Iowa over Trump -- and over the truth

Mudd does not dispute this but says he would have more confidence if states followed the same procedures. “Nothing about that deal is the American way, I don’t think,” Mudd Sr. says of the latest Trump indictment. And it vividly captures the country’s red state-blue state divide, which includes what you think of Trump and where you get your news. Taylor supported Texas Sen. Ted Cruz in the 2016 caucuses, but voted for Trump in November 2016 and again in 2020. Shopping around is an Iowa tradition, but both understand that a splintered field eventually helps Trump, as it did in 2016.

The candidate needs to lock down savvy people he trusts and will listen to, even as he jettisons the troublemakers. When Mr. McCain cut loose a couple of his top advisers in 2007, several senior staff members followed them out the door. This is when a candidate really needs to step up and impose order. The harsh reality of reboots is that some presidential hopefuls are just too out of step with the political moment to rescue. By the fall of 2015, Team Jeb was slashing staff and hoping for the debates to help him win free media.
