Mounting geopolitical tensions and a tight presidential election may intensify market volatility in coming weeks, but high-quality growth stocks may prove a useful way for investors to hedge against any future uncertainty, according to Trivariate Research. October is a historically volatile month for stocks , and this week alone has seen the market seesaw. "It now seems the market has come full circle," Trivariate Research founder and CEO Adam Parker wrote in a recent research note to clients. "It is much easier to buy and hold growth stocks, and it requires less arrogance in predicting the unknown than it used to. Wholesale retailer Costco and hotel giant Hilton are two other growth names that Parker listed.

With Tesla's hotly anticipated robotaxi event hours away, investors will soon get a glance at what CEO Elon Musk has called the CyberCab. The event comes a week after Tesla reported third-quarter deliveries of 462,890, lifting the number to 1.35 million for the year so far. For all of last year, Tesla reported deliveries of 1.81 million. Gene Munster of Deepwater Asset Management told CNBC's "Fast Money" on Wednesday, that he'll be at the event and expects to test the robotaxi. Tesla was once seen as a pioneer in autonomous vehicle development, but has never managed to deliver or demonstrate robotaxi technology.

Brisbane, Australia CNN —A pilot who died when he crashed a helicopter into a hotel in Australia had “significant blood alcohol content” during the unauthorized flight, according to an official report into the incident. The pilot had been out with friends at various venues around Cairns and was seen consuming alcohol, according to witnesses and security camera footage, the report said. Cameras also caught the moment he positioned one of Nautilus Aviation’s Robinson R44 Raven II helicopters onto a helipad at Cairns Airport at around 1:30 a.m. local time. The report found they wouldn’t have seen a helicopter that was operating at night with no lights. It found the helicopter wasn’t upright when it hit the hotel, but there was also no sign of mechanical failure.

Such moves, known as tax loss harvesting, helps investors trim their tax bills the next year.
