Half of family offices plan to do "direct deals" — or invest in a private company without a private equity fund — over the next two years, according to a family office survey from Bastiat Partners and Kharis Capital. As they grow in size and sophistication, family offices are becoming more confident about finding and negotiating their own private equity deals. "Family offices are being gradually recognized as an economic powerhouse in private markets," according to the report. CNN —Nearly two months ago, CNN reached out to Melania Trump’s book publisher to request an interview with the former first lady ahead of her upcoming memoir. After several exchanges about a possible interview, the publisher sent an unusual demand last week: an interview would cost $250,000. Melania Trump’s spokesperson declined comment. Spokespeople for ABC, NBC and CBS declined to comment on whether they received a similar request for payment from Trump’s publisher. But in this case, the Trump campaign hasn’t been involved in Melania Trump’s book rollout.

Jeff Landry confirmed his support on Tuesday of restarting the tradition of bringing Louisiana State University’s live tiger mascot onto the football field ahead of home games. For years, the school’s live mascot would ride through the stadium in a travel trailer “topped by the LSU cheerleaders” before home games, based on information about the mascot on the LSU Athletics’ webpage. Following the death of the school’s tiger, Mike VI, in 2016, LSU announced that future Mike the Tigers would no longer be brought onto the field. In the past, animal rights groups have called on LSU to stop keeping live tiger mascots. Louisiana is not the only school that is home to a live mascot.
